Just finished up mounting Hardstreet Sixers and realized there was not a proper Hardstreet comparison (was done in the SWTF post)

Here are photo's of the two on my Bird. I did a hard mount with Sixers first using Hardstreets STL Brackets. It was OK, good mounts and not too hard to get off. Took them off a number of times for cleaning. Not handy if on the road and want to bring them in with you as they need to be empty to take off. Using Easy Brackets shine in this area for ease.

Both do better in the rain than I would have suspected. Good seals. Great locking mechanism. Opens outward maximizing space for storage.

Slimbags 12" H X 22" W x 8" D

Are a great deal longer but narrower to accommodate sitting in close to the bike and minus space for shock cut out. You can fit a large Laptop in there quite well. I traveled 4400 miles with my laptop on the SWTF ride. Good storage fitting all rain gear and items you want to have easy access to.

Sixers 12.5"H x 18.5"W x 8.5"D

Shorter than the Slims, 18.5 inches long but fit between the shocks and turn signals, a bit short to fit a full size laptop. More than enough room for gear and a Skid Lid helmet. These may suit Pillion riders a little better than the Slims giving a little more room for moving about and mounting and dismounting.

Again, Easy brackets for easy removal for cleaning or when traveling, fixed brackets for cleaning not all that bad to take off or put back on, fixed no moving or wobble that can happen over time with ANY removable mount.

Hope this helps in your quest.

Thanks for the posts and pics. Both sets look great - I am thinking about hard bags for my Storm. Any heat issues from the pipes?

Is that a Triumph rack or aftermarket?

Besides that IS short should have seen the hayfield before I got to it! Just feed it to my daughter horses! Actually, I letit grow just for these photo's for presence and ambiance of the laid back look and flexibility of the Thunderbird....

Eddy can the slimbags be had in different colors? My Bird is silver, and I don't think black bags would look near as good as silver bags.

You can buy them primed only and get them painted locally. Had a friend get a set for his America and had them painted and they look great...but then I guess that will all depend on who paints them.

Nice pics there GerPa - really adds to this already valuable comparison made by Fast Eddy a while ago. Cheers both!

I'm back to looking for a hard case solution, and I'm a bit surprised how little the availability has moved on. I'm quite liking the Hardstreet Sixers (or perhaps slimbags) plus Easy Bracket combination, but by the time you've paid postage to uk and import taxes, it all starts to look a little pricey.

Anyone found a Hardstreet solution in the UK or have a newer/better idea for us Brits?

Thanks.

Rodge here's the slim bags painted and i would agree with eddy the slims make it hard on the passenger to get their feet on the stock pegs so i bought the triumph floorboards as they have the adjustable mounts.

currently on a slow Harley but will have another Triumph eventually

Thanks Dougl, I checked their website and they do look nice. I have the Triumph bags at present (brand new in box as it happens) so I'm after lockable hard cases really. Well worth a thought though if I can't find the right hardcase solution, so thanks.

Oh they look good, particularly with the tops matched to that nice red colour scheme. Little to tell between your slims and and the sixers on GerPa's - I love the red tops you've both gone for, and I think either of the Hardstreet bags would be good. Good idea with the foot boards too, but I'm thinking I might need to go with the Sixers because I have the rear dresser bars fitted.

Now I need to find a supplier that does not mean I have to add big postage costs, 20% UK VAT and then import tax (whatever % that is)! Unless there's an better solution....?

I don't know if it makes any difference with respect to shipping and VAT but Edge Leather makes a large, lockable bag (Model 112), which can be mounted on Easy Brackets. They also sell Edge Brackets but don't use them!

Thanks Eddy, all info greatly appreciated. The solution I'm currently looking at is Sixers and Easy Brackets, or maybe the C4s bags which look to be pretty good. The Sixers are a wee bit small but fit nicely and I'm not sure what the C4s are like inside volume wise - what do those who've got C4s think?

Easy brackets seem to be the QR fitting of choice for either though I'm thinking. Trick is finding uk suppliers to minimise postage and avoid import tax and VAT, and I'm struggling with that too atm.

Actually, I'm thinking of shipping me and my bike to the US, buying a load of stuff from you, fitting it and then shipping us back!

yeah rodge , i'm betting the slims won't fit with the rear dresser bar and by the way gerpa got his idea from me. i even supplied him with the paint code

Well I reckon you did very well there mate, for you and GerPa too. Both bikes look really nice and the bags match a treat.

Thanks for your thoughts on the dresser bar too - it'll have to be the Sixers if I can source Hardstreet & Easy brackets.

How 'bout you pop over and sort mine out while the weather here is being unusually gorgeous?

The Slims will fit with the rear dresser bar. They are on Easy Brackets.

Thanks Fishy, that's good info. I'm thinking that, if they fit behind the bars, passenger leg room can't be worse with the Slims on than what it was before. I think the bars restrict legroom a bit, but my Missus is ok with it. So, Slims are an option.

Here in UK Easy Brackets appear to be really hard to get, but the Hardstreet Sixers are available as a 'kit' from Motorcycle Superstore which comes with the AlloyTech brackets, so if that works with the OEM Sissy Bar that might swing it for me. I like the look of the Slims marginally better though although I'm a little concerned that both they and the Sixers may be a little small, so the research goes on. Both look really good with the red painted lids seen above and in GerPa's picture, but your satin finish looks very nice too. Thanks for your input.

Anyone know the difference between the Standard and Metric versions of the Hardstreets and whether both or just one will fit the 'Birds?
