All,

I submitted a claim to get my forks replaced due to corrosion (four months ago). Triumph denied the claim because they said it was due to rocks and road debris compromising the clear coat. I spoke to a fella named Pete with Triumph USA and he said they are unaware of this happening and they don't cover corrosion. Can anyone provide me with contact information of someone who can help and can verify that this is an on going issue.

Can you call the UK mr CB?

If so call Steve in parts and servicing at North City Triumph on +44 1708 752 111 I think thats the uk code, not sure you would need to check.

They got both my brother's and my forks replaced with no trouble what so ever with a couple pictures on his phone. My corrosion was at the join to the chrome part at the top . I also remember them saying the forks have now been treated differently to stop the moisture getting under the clear coat.

Cant be more help than that mate sorry.

Oh check the time difference, your about 5 hours behind us so if you call at 8am ur time itll be Steve's lunch 1 oclock but Gary will be able to help as he covers when Steve is away or lunching.

They are good guys I sure they can give you the information you need if all else fails.

I pointed out the rust spots, and they took a picture. Said Triumph is aware of corrosion under the
clear coat and they replaced the fork tubes.

the type of ingress that is covered occurs where the chrome cap sits on the fork lower, it looksl like worms snaking down from the lip. they dont cover stone chips
triumph have included a small drain on the new fork lower top now to stop the water sitting.

you dont say what your problem looks like but if it is worming snaking from where the fork lower meets the chrome cap that is covered as it will occur anywhere around the lip and stones aint likely to hit the sides or rears of the fork lower

over time though the laquer will fail

good luck with you claim

This is the same worming below the chrome caps on the fork lowers reported by many of you. Triumph USA said it was caused by stones hitting the forks and denied the claim. See pictures

CB, mine were very minor compared to yours although I did see a used Bird at the dealer that looked that bad. Mine were replaced with chrome thanks to my dealer. Triumph were only going to supply non cleared alloy.

there was much less on mine and they were replaced without a problem!!

maybe its because they are so bad there is an issue,
that aside there is clear failure of the laquer where the chrome cap sits so they should be replaced under warrenty as most of us who have early birds have had them replaced without a hitch.

i would take a pic of the failure at the joint, focus just on the warrenty issue bit, and send it to hinckley asking why triumph US are not replacing it.
if there is a head distriuted in the US try them first as mark swepson ( warrenty uk) gve me the impression the US had its own head branch

its definitly warrenty, dont give up

p.s if its failing ar the rear show its failing there too, stones wont hit the backside.
