I'm heading to Tassie from Perth in November and the bikes 10,000km service will come due somewhere along the ride. My Plan is to book it in for the service in Adelaide or Melbourne (depending on Ks before I depart) before I leave and probably a new back tyre as well. 178km straights on the Nullabor tend to kill tyres.

Can anyone suggest a good dealer for the job in either Adelaide or Melbourne?

In Adelaide only one dealer for that service its Peter Stevens they are the triumph dealer so while its under warranty its advisable to stick to a triumph dealer .

I actually rang them today and booked mine in for its 10.000 klm service they quoted me $390 . In melbourne there is a Peter Stevens but if your going to Tassie from Perth it would be almost crinimal not to go the Great Ocean road

From Adelaide to Melborne on the great ocean road route is probably another 3-350 klm longer , but definetly worth it . when you get to Geelong there is a Peter Stevens there , i've heard good reports about them has well . do a search there is another place in Geelong that is not over the top on tyre prices .

Whichever way you go it would pay to ring them up and make sure they have a tyre . number for Peter Stevens Adelaide is

08-82121494 There in the centre of the city .

You may has well go to them for a tyre if you choose to do it in Adeaide , theres other tyre places but they will be pretty much the same price

Why is the Nullabor rough on tyres i thought they sealed it , remember when i was a kid 1969 we came across it when we moved from Perth to Adelaide , after arriving from the Uk , water on the road ( Dirt Track ) I was made to get out and walk across in front of the car to see how deep the pot holes were , if i fell in dad knew which way to steer , excuse was they could'nt swim

Pretty sure when i drove back to Perth it was sealed except for about 200 klm over by the mission that was in 78 , it would have to be all sealed now would'nt it ,

Good luck with it , November it will be travelling time let us know i'll ride part of the way with you especially if you go down by the coorong from Adeaide its a nice ride if you go from the southern suburbs through the hills . to Tailem Bend and then Meninguie through to Geelong

Hi, Ridden across the nullabor twice now, (america and a speedy) and doing it again in october (bathurst pilgrimage)
and yes it does knock the tyres around a bit in the centre cos theres not many corners or bends lol....Road was fully sealed in 1976 but you can still see bits of the original in places.....The roadhouse at the yalata mission has been closed down so theres no fuel between nullabaor roadhoiuse and nundroo...no problem really...easy ride just a bit boring lol, cheers, Tadpole...

Ps.... fuel was $2.05 a litre for premium 95 at Balladonia last week, apparently the dearest between perth and adelaide

That does'nt bother me so much , i guess we have to pay a premium for someone to live out in the middle of nowhere and sell it to us

What gives me the shits is when its a $1.35 and overnight at weekend or pension day goes up to $1.59 only to start dropping a day or so later .

Coneye,

Thanks for the info on Adelaide. I know Peter Stevens in Melbourne from 12 years ago when I lived there and had my Buell serviced by them. They went out of there way to help me sort it out. It was an X1 with plenty of teething problems.

The plan is definately to take the GOR. As Tadpole said the problem with the Nullabor isn't the condition of the roads it's the straights. Long periods on the centre of the tyre, hot weather and a heavy bike is bad news for a tyre. Stick my fat arse in the saddle and the situation gets worse

Alsdo thanks for the offer of a bit of company part of the way. Current plan is to leave around 31Oct so I'll let you know closer to the off when I'll be in Adelaide.
