| Posted : 18 Jun 2011 - 21:47 Post title : Auxiliary driving lights question | | Anyone know what maximum size/wattage bulb goes in the auxiliary driving lights? One of mine burned out and it was a H3 35 watt. I can only find H3 55watt bulbs. can I use them or will they be too hot?

| Posted : 18 Jun 2011 - 23:24 Post title : Re: Auxiliary driving lights question (Re: ezrider3) | | If it were me,I'd stay with the 35 watt bulb.Ya have two things to consider here.One is if the wire gauge at the plug is heavy enough to handle two 55 watt bulbs.It might be,but do ya really need two 55 watt bulbs for passin lamps.If ya upgrade one,ya gotta upgrade the other too as the brightness will be quite noticeable.55/60 is what the low/high beam bulb is in the headlight.I was just in my headlight housing and,if I remember right,the plug for the passin lights uses a lighter gauge wire then the plug for the headlight does.The second thing is the stator size.In this case,because the Bird uses a 45 amp stator,it should be ok.But ya still gotta consider the wires.Just my two cents FWIW.lol Dave!!!

I have motolights with the 50 watt optional bulbs. I'm on my second year with these lights with no problems.
