That sounds awesome! Cat box must be out? I wish someone would have posted such a good quality video with such clear crisp sound of the shorts before I bought my hogslayers!

It would be interesting to see if the cat has been removed on that bike. I have shorts but they do NOT sound like that.
Just a thought, someone might be able to enlighten me.....on my previous bike, 2007 VN 900 , I drilled out the 4 muffler stops, then cut off the rear oval at the end of each exhaust then drilled 8 x 1/4" holes in the end of the muffler. The sound was deeper and had a bit of a rumble. Sounded a lot better than stock. Has anyone thought of drilling holes into the ends of the short tors ?

Howdy Rob,
looks like you finally made the giant leap to the world of noise.
I have made another set of mufflers today ,used 90mm (The old ones were 75mm)stainless tube this time with slash cut.
Perforated 38mm inner tube wrapped lightly with glass wool, superb note.
The TORS are already a straight through system, not packed at all ,they seem to have some type of mechanical baffle that diverts some of the gas out through the inner pipe wall and then back in before exiting to the atmosphere.
I made my set the same and they sounded just like the TORS,harsh tone, am trialing the perforated tube this afternoon, have a few more ideas to go ,I made my pipes so that I can remove the innards at any time for modifications and then just re-insert for more R&D. Will post some photos when I get back later.
Cheers.

Awesome note.these are the same diamater as the D&D pipes.
Tucked them in close to the swingarm, will probably make another set at 100mm diamater to see how they will look???,the only way to get the Triumph rumble instead of the harsh note is to used perforated core tube ( The same as Foran and Staintunes) and packing, the mechanical baffles only produce a harsh rebounding note.
Seems like more power as well using 38mm diamater inners this time.
Cheers.

howdy Rob,
Hope you got your share of murray Cod and Yellow belly on the F trip.
I have had the cat box on and off the bike at least 12 times.
The off cat box exhaust note is dismal and sounds very amateurish,no torque at all and will drive you mad with background resonance,...Not really what I want at my age.
When refitting the cat box/chamber you get all the torque back.
So I have been trialing different pipes and lenghts to nail the exact note I want, have had it on the dyno twice and when you remove the cat chamber you lose all the back pressure, bike will make lots more HP and Torque with the cat chamber in place .
Have now found the ultimate note with cat chamber still inplace.
Cheers.
