I got the Stealth jacket as an all rounder summer/winter. Gave it a good test on the Dent run. Mixture of rain, cold, hot, and dry. Handled it all really well and shall be taking along on the Bled Bash.I really wanted to know that I could rely on this one jacket without taking waterproofs and am quite happy to do that. removable liners give lots of options. Panels on the front and back can be fully removed for hot summer riding leaving mesh panels showing. A winter lining is easily removed and also a water proof lining which can be kept in for summer or winter options. And a big plus for me is that it is all black so I dont look as though I am setting off on a round the world GS moment.

£200 well spent.

There were only 8 or 9 birds. But this wasn't a bird meet. It was a TBA meet with us tagging along. That number isn't too bad for a non bird meet. Wait till we get a proper bird meet going. Start worrying

There's a few I've thought of. Although since I've been partially exposed on this site I'm having second thoughts. Are we thinking "Celebrity Underwear", "Rider's Wives" or "Members Shared Rooms"? Not to mention Labradoodles and beetroot?

I can't see how we got here from Stealth Jackets but this seems standard procedure for this Forum. I blame Zolti.

It's a shame that my dealer didn't have one in yesterday - I would have loved to have a closer look at it.

I've got my sights set on that new Adventure Mesh Jacket (model 2011) or that there new cafe looking leather Berwick jacket - but the Berwick doesn't seem to have the venting abilities that a good mesh jacket can offer - ESPECIALLY for the 30+ degrees.

I too am looking for a suitable option for the tours this year. Like yourself, I like the idea of just one garment and not half the wardrobe - without looking like a Ewan or Charlie look-a-like.

I'm also confronted with the BA Euro Rally down to Greece later in the summer (July/August) - and that will more than likely be bollok-melting hot!

I think the Adventure mesh jacket looks to be topping the chart at the moment - but UNLIKE your Stelth - IT'S NOT WATERPROOF!

I just replaced my Tourmaster mesh with the new Adventure mesh jacket. The Tourmaster was comfortable, but didn't feel secure - in a crash I figured the pads/jacket would slide all over the place. Even thought the Triumph jacket is mesh as well, it feels secure.

The only down side of the Triumph jacket is it's lack of a cold-weather liner. The Tourmaster was nice in that it was the only jacket I would bring on a long trip and with the liner it was warm enough for cold mornings. The Triumph does have a rain/wind liner, however.

Needing a 3 season jacket is why I picked the BMG Montana jacket. It's got a lot of the venting that the Berwick jacket but with upper arm vents as well. It's said to be cool in the warm months as well (though obviously not to the levels of a mesh jacket. The Montana also has a insulative liner as well which is a nice thing to be able to stuff into a pack for those cold morning, regardless of how hot the days are.

I've never cared for the mesh jackets. I'm always concerned at what protection they'll really offer. I probably should try to like them. They do tend to be cheaper... but they ain't pretty, that's for sure.

Valid arguments, that's for sure.
But I have a prerequisite regarding a jacket - and that is: should it get soaking wet through, a textile/mesh jacket will dry over night if hung in a vented place - unlike my leather jacket which took nearly 2 days once!!! And we all know not to speed the drying of leather unless you like that shrink-wrap feeling...

I think the new Triumph Mesh jacket is one of the better looking mesh jackets out there.

I tried having a single jacket, but it just didn't work out. I have a Tour Master Transition jacket that is said to be fine into the 80s, but at about 75 it's too warm.

I started with a Fox Creek leather jacket. This jacket had a lot of ventilation and was build like a tank - it weighed about 20 lbs, but again, in the mid-70s, it gets to warm. For these reasons, I broke down and purchased a mesh jacket in the summer of 2009.

I sold the Fox Creek and the Tour Master Mesh two weekends ago and used the money to buy the new Triumph Mesh. So I'm down to three jackets: Tourmaster Transition II for early spring, late fall, Triumph Stockton for "normal" temps and Triumph Mesh for really hot weather.

Also, my Tourmaster is yellow/black, which is good since I use it early spring, late fall when people don't expect motorcycles on the road. It's my: Look, here I am, don't run me over jacket.

Well thankfully the Montana will be here in time for the Bled run (knock on wood) so I should get a good idea of how it will deal with the heat. I seem to have a much higher tolerance for heat while riding than others do. So long as I'm moving I can wear my Hawk jacket (14 oz leather w/ NO ventalation) up to 80-85 beyond that I had to wear a perf leather.

Unfortunately my perf leather was budget purchase and never really fit me well (think arm carpris) I bought a cheap one because I hadn't owned one before and wanted a test run with one first. All in all I like them but even though it has a liner theres no way you can deal with cold morning with one. So, for the long tour I prefer to have leather and I HOPE that the Montana will fit the bill. If not I'll break down and get yet another jacket and hope I can sneak it in the door with the Mrs seeing. (my gear collection is rivaling her shoe collection these days)

The Stealth jacket only turns into a mesh jacket when you unzip the textile panels and remove them.
I can stand riding and working in heat (firefighter) so the jacket works well, If it's cold and then warms up I get the best of both worlds.
I would rather just wear my Triumph leather all the time, but functionality over coolness is the order of the day when away for a few days.

Oh I'm with you on that one. A lot of my issue (there are so many to choose from) is I don't feel protected in all the textile jackets I've tried. So, if I can find a leather that vents well enough I'd be much happier. Then I'll just throw the frogg toggs in the bag in case it rains.

I'm certainly not trying to sell you on the Triumph Mesh, but the Triumph mesh sleeves really stay in place and that is the main issue with mesh jackets - the armor slides out of the way and/or the jacket slides up. If the jacket stays around you, I don't think you'll wear through it in a slide (at least, others have reported that).

Got caught in heavy rain whilst wearing the Stealth jacket. Brilliant, arms, chest, back all bone dry. Now I just need some waterproof trousers, boots, socks, boxers and gloves.
