So I bought these months ago when passing through my old Triumph shop (which has since lost it's franchise) and they managed to have my size in stock so I bought them. I've always been fond of the gloves and thought they would make a good mid temp riding glove. Since I've finally gotten a chance to ride with them a bit I thought I'd give my impressions.

First a couple shots of the gloves..

Definitely a pretty glove and as is the Triumph apparel norm, they are very good quality. They are however a bit small, mainly across the knuckles. This is due in part to the padded knuckle area in lieu of rigid armor the Ashford glove is padded and this is the area that can be a bit tight. They have already started to loosen up and I suspect it won't be an issue at all shortly. (I had some hand pain the first ride or two with them). Further the throat of the glove is tight. They are a bit like putting on surgical gloves when you first get them, but again, once they have been worn a bit they stretch out and are easier to deal with. The gloves have no venting and not insulation so they are truly a mild temperature glove. I have worn down to 40F but wished I had a heavier glove at that point. I'd say they are great for 50-85 though. Above 85 I'm going to want my vented Raptor gloves. Only other thing to mention is that the 'white' on these gloves really is a light tan more so than an off white.

So would I get them again? Yeah, good quality glove, fair price and sharp looking. Are they the end all be all? No, but then what glove is.

I like those. I have the Ashford jacket and never even thought about the gloves - says me clicking on 'new tab'.

I liked those too, the contrast of colors really stikes me, and it's sad that Triumph dropped the jacket though. I have the Stockwell jacket and it would nice to have matching gloves. BTW the wife thinks I sleep in the jacket, I told her if she wore the jacket she'd never sleep

i wear these with my Hawk jacket. The hawk has a lighter off white than the ashford gloves but otherwise they look good together.

A very stylish glove, indeed. Me likee

Looks like they went for style over function, though. IMO, not enough "pre-curve" articulation... a bit too flat cut vs. built-in articulation for riding (grip) position.... hence, the bit of pain you're going through.

Still, a very nice glove and, as they're leather, that "articulation will work itself in as you wear 'em... the bonus is they'll become a very personal fit after break-in.

It's to show the size of the meta-human's hands. Twice that of a homemade banjo!

Yeah it's a Lowebow actually. A variant of a CBG. It's got 3 guitar strings and one bass string with individual outs for each group. No relation to Seasick other then that was my nickname in school (not by choice, was making fun of my actual name) and I'm an old fart that loves dirty blues.

not enough "pre-curve" articulation

Actually they aren't bad. They have a some precurve and also the first two fingers have expansion sections in them that allow for easy movement of the fingers. I have no issue with finger movement it's the tightness of the glove over the knuckles that is the issue. I like a tight glove so I went for an initial snug fit and that padding area is taking some work to loosen up. Normally I wear the same size in an armored glove and have no problem because of the added room in the armor.

DAMN IT, THATCH! Don't I have ENOUGH things on my wishlist? Now, I've gotta build me a Lowebow now, too???

Lowebows are an interesting thing .... made by a man named John Lowe. I went to his shop while I was in Memphis for 1 month. He gave me a demonstration on my guitar, gave me a bit of a lesson on the build and just had a nice visit with him. He showed me the hand coiled pickups and a bit of what was in the beast. He also showed off a number of his variations. Lots of folks use them with a sliding nut. You can do some crazy stuff with them.

If you really want one contact John at Xanadu music in Memphis or just look him up on facebook. He doesn't have a proper webpage and doesn't publish his prices and info.

Here is another approach to the lowebow from Ben Prestage

Or Pat Macdonald (the co-creator of the lowebow) with his band Purgatory Hill

There is a better version of the son on their website as the background music Link
It's only fair. You brought up the Ohlins

DAMN! Ben's "kick/hi-hat" technique is giving me ALL KINDS of ideas! My original acoustic stuff is definitely blues-based/Zep-influenced and I've been stomping my left or right foot on hardwood floors loudly as part of the rhythm for awhile. Wouldn't be a big stretch to add a kick and hi-hat. Thanks for that vid... VERY inspiring to my musical creative process

BTW... I'm riding RIGHT PASS Memphis on the southern leg of my trip. Was planning on skirting 'round it, but if I have time, I just may have to look him up. This the place?

That's the one. Interesting place. A house turned into combination music shop and book shop... but the music shop is winning and the bookshop is effectively non-existent now. The place is as scattered as John is .... great experience though and such a unique instrument. I highly recommend giving him a visit.

Like it.

Had to step back the Ben Prestage one, he changes to a lefty for a few bars in the middle of the song He even shifts the amp from one side to the other.

Got a pair of these too. Great looking gloves, they may not go with all my jackets, but who cares. They work good on those cooler days when winter gloves are too big. I should have gotten them at MADSS.
