Evening All

Had a few days to get away and felt like packing a few miles in so headed over the water (or under rather through the Eurotunnel) and down the West of France. I thought I'd stay on the Autoroute until the weather brightened (it was kinda grey and drizzling), so 450 miles later I got off and into the vineyards of Bordeaux. Set up camp on the Atlantic coast, very nice too.

Next day I crossed over into Spain and followed the roads South of the Pyrenees Mountains - a truly world class riding area and no one about!

Gotta love the space.

Day three saw me cross through Andorra where it's still quite chilly at 7000 feet!

Camping north of Perpignan on the third night gave me a nice start crossing over the Millau Viaduct - you have to go and see the thing!

But, all things have to come to an abrupt end and I needed to get back so it was a 775 mile enjoyable slog back to the tunnel.

Here is my track download from the ride:

51 MPG AVG, 2042 Miles in total

Day 1: 648.3 Miles (Mixed)
Day 2: 293.1 Miles (Twisties)
Day 3: 324.9 Miles (Major Twisties)
Day 4: 775.7 Miles (Mostly Autoroute)

The bike was faultless, pretty good fun on the twisties, comfortable on the Autoroutes at an actual 80 MPH (for about 14-15 hours with short breaks on the way back) couldn't ask for much more on it's first proper run really.

Ooh, and here is a pic to get Mr Lopez in the mood for his trip

Have a good one chaps - if any of the UK lot want route notes for the roads South of the Pyrenees let me know (it's worth the trip down and quiet at the moment!) I've dumped the rest of my photos here:

Here's my bike next to a mountain, etc

Nice trip. Best colour for wine and best colour for a Bird - what more could you want on a trip.

Spain was on my list for this year but have somehow ended up on a trip with some people that ride black motorcycles to a place where a donkey is currency.

Nice one.

HUBBA HUBBA! SWEET!

I love your wine selection (tempranillo is one of my favorite Spanish wines)... and that "wine glass" is classic.

Nice, very nice, no I really mean BRILLIANT!

This is what it is ALL about - most I have done in a day on the Bird is about 650 (I think) and I could of kept on going.

Bordeaux has some wonderful grape juice too eh!

Cheers chaps - here's to a great summer!

My wine glass was also my cooking pot and my teeth brushing cup ... but, mostly a wine glass

After the 775 miles I think I was good for a 1000 but I got home! Did a 1025 on the Bandit last year and I think the 'Bird makes a better long distance ride.

All good, Lee.

Love the photo with bridge in it, brilliant!

Edit : God damn it I get confused with these in, on, at and all other little words that I don't know where to use properly.

A train station is where the train stops. A bus station is where the bus stops. On my desk, I have a work station...
