Surely this should be a warrenty problem, I would realy pi--ed if that happened to me. I, luckily, have had no such problem but would be straight on to Triumph if stuff like that started to drop off my bike. Sorry about the rant but just got back from the pub. A number plate yes ok ,blo-dy anoying, but indicator lens - no.

On the indicator lens I will try a very small drop of super glue. Super glue doesn't seem to have a lot of elasticity so if If there is a little sideways play it should be enough to break the bond.

On the leak, absolutely Matt it should and will be a warranty issue. I was of the impression that a company was required to mail out a notification. A buddy has an HD and he received written notification...maybe HD are used to recalls

I expect a small amount of fail on a new line of vehicle...it's part of the price you pay for being an early adopter. We should have higher expectations but bikes are deigned and put together by humans.

Well up until today I got the odd drop of coolant - mentioned it to dealer for 1000k service but he checked and could not find anything.

This morning rode into work - the coolant bottle has not gone down (much) but coolant is everywhere - even sprayed down the pipes!

Waiting for dealer to get in to give him a call - NB I have just over 4000km on the bike.

Sounds like Triumph Australia are going to be a bit busy today.

Stang: have you checked to see if your on the recall list?

Sure did - no recall on my VIN - and dealer service manager has nothing either!

He is looking for a loaner bike for me - if so will drop my bike in this arvo (I am using bike as commuter this week).

My drizzle seems to have dried up, but it was going strong during the winter after I took the bird to Florida on the AutoTrain. I had to shop around to find some Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) a.k.a. Hybrid OAT coolant, per the Owner's Handbook, and had to fill up once, after buying the long neck socket to get it open. But I couldn't fit the jug in my luggage and left it next to the dumpster in the parking lot wherever. My dealer parts guys don't know anything about it, but just have a few varieties of regular premium coolant they use in all the bikes. I've checked AutoZone, Advance Automotive, and PEP Boys around DC and found nothing. Has anyone found a place to buy this HOAT coolant (see page 66 in Owner's Handbook)? When you Google HD4X HOAT it talks about Triumph factory coolant. Apparently Mopar uses HOAT, too. I wonder if it has a Triumph part number. (Yes, I'm sure any premium coolant would work fine, or even distilled water for makeup during the summer, but it says .... )

Valvoline make a HOAT coolant-Zerex G-05.

If I were stuck I would go for Water Wetter and distilled water.

wanted to post in here as some discussion have been in the tuneboy/PC thread regarding ongoing leaks even after being look at by the dealer,

this week i have had a chance to have another look at the Thermostat housing as we had one in for the leak, (helping out at my local dealer on and off, pays my bill )

first thing is the replacement gasket is no different to the original one, the first one we did a few months back did seem different however we thing it just jot damaged when fitted and compressed between the head and housing.

we have come to the conclusion there are two distinct problems both resulting in a leak from the same place on the housing.

The first is a poorly fitted thermostat gasket, gasket is designed in such a way it fits around the outer edge on the thermostat and seals both side when compressed, it is then pushed in between the housing and the head, if done dry with no lubrication it will drag on the surface and get pulled off from one side, this then means it does not seal correctly and leaks, normally due to the gasket being out of position it also gets trapped between the two surfaces and damaged.

the fix for this is a new gasket fitted correctly, it must be heavily lubricated before fitting otherwise the same thing will happen again.

The Second issue seems to be that even when fitted correctly it still leaks, we think this is due to the machining on recess in the housing and/or head that the thermostat sits in being to deep so even when fully tight it cant fully seal.

to rectify this we decided to seal the housing with liquid gasket, this solved the problem 100%.

the conclusion we have come to is some people could have either issue or both, we feel the best method with any one that leaks is to replace the gasket and apply sealant to the housing, this ensures a fix first time as its not a small job to do, to me and all the other mechs they can not understand why triumph just don't seal it at the factory, every metal to metal seal with water or oil should have a paper gasket or sealant applied, the gasket around the stat just is not good enough in out opinion.

hope this helps

For Your Information mad_angler - and interesting to know:

While I was fumbling with my `Bird last night and under the tank, I clearly saw where my drizzle was coming from.
And it was NOT the gasket or poorly fitted hose / clamps!

Drizzle drops - ONLY occurring after having the BB-Kit installed!

I was pleased to hear that Thatch also had the same experience post BB-Kit, and assessed it as being a poorly refitted thermostat hose / clamps.
I was hoping to find the same circumstances with my `Bird. So I looked at the hose clamps and saw the following (see picture below).
Obviously it was NOT the hose clamps - as the drizzle could be seen coming from ABOVE the small hose section!

Following the path I came across the following:

Simply tightened the bolt down and cleaned up the drizzle.
Will keep an eye open the next few hundred of kilometers and keep you all posted.

Good job finding the drizzle. There are lots of points for potential leaks that were messed with during the BB install. If you're like me you tend to be on guard for "THE' drizzle and I was quick to ask to have the fix kit fitted, but after looking the bike over they found where things just hadn't been quite put back together well enough. Looks like, while your's isn't the exact spot, it's essentially the same problem.

Hope it fixes it for good.

If I have a moment this weekend I'm going to pull the bike apart and start looking seriously about stripping out that airbox. You didn't happen to look at that at all while you were in there did you?

Hello,
I noticed some white splashes on the rear of the cylinders after the ride back from picking the bike up new. A quick investigation after looking at Birdy68's pictures and it turns out to be the jubilee clips on the short piece of hose - shown in the second pic.
They were only finger tight and spun round when I put a screwdriver on to tighten .
Now nipped up, I think that this will be the end of the problem - a silly fault but not worried as it was easily fixed - thanks Birdy!

well sourced and solved jensen ,
might be worth a mention to your dealer so they make sure they check that area in future
