| Posted : 25 Apr 2011 - 16:42 Post title : Drive belt tension tool | | Just spent a few hours re-greasing the rear axle and associated bushes, due to the low speed sound I have been hearing from the rear of the bike already mentioned by others elsewhere on this site ( sound has now gone so thank you guys for the resolution).
Anyway, I was again reminded that my finger is not calibrated for upward pressure in respect of drive belt tension. The owners manual recommends a Triumph tool I should buy!
Anyone use one of these? How critical is the pressure versus deflection? I haven't even looked at the cost of the tool but thought I would ask the experts what you do?

But before you make any adjustments, rotate the wheel until you find the tightest spot in the belt which will have the least amount of up and down movement as viewed thru that slot in the lower belt guard. That slot is where ya check and or adjust the belt tension according to spec for up and down movement at its tightest point.Like anything else, the first time is the hardest. The more ya do it,the easier it becomes. As I said, the owmer's manual and the shop manual, both explain the procedure.Read it over a couple times until ya understand it. Good luck. Dave!!!
