I have just returned from a ride to Sydney from Brisbane, round trip just under 2000 k's. I have the Triumph two piece wet weather gear and am happy to report that I stayed dry during fairly heavy rain on the way down and on the way home it pissed down from Sydney to Taree (approx 300k's)and I ended up with a small damp area around the crotch(yes it was rain) and my left sock was wet. I put the sock down to the strap that holds the trouser leg down to the boot blowing off and rain finding it's inevitable way through. All this was at 100- 120 kph.

The next day we had to stop and put the gear on again as it bloody snowed on us together with very gusty cold SW winds. So all in all less than $200 well spent.

Down side is my bike is a mess

Well, for the Aussies at least, I'll put in my plug for dri-rider gear. They have removable thermal and wet weather liners. The liners are a pain in the ass to put in or out so you need to plan ahead but they do work. Living in WA I usualy ride with mine unlined but every once in a while the wet liners go in before a ride and they do the job. Not so much with the boots but the good thing with the dri-rider boots is you can fold the lining out so they dry quickly. Wet feet on the day but you start the next with dry boots. Having struggled on and off over the years with over suits and 2 peice wet weather gear I'm pretty happy with what dri-rider has to offer.

Sigh, 2 days of wet riding and I was amazed how filthy the Storm got. Some weird air flow looped all the dirt up past my knees and into an interesting swirl on the petrol tank. Both sides of the tank had loops of filth on them while the rest of it was untouched.

Mate I have a Dri rider jacket which is really good in summer and also with a bit of rain, but I doubt it would have stood up to three hours of highway speed in heavy rain that the Triumph jacket did. I agree with you on the fitting of the liner, which is why I went back to over the top gear. I can pull over and be fully suited in no time although the gear does ad to windage(from the outside).

My mate was wearing a liner set up and was wet right through to the skin, which I of course gave him shit about for the next two days.

I bought a cheap set of Moto Rider jacket and pants for wet weather. I usually just throw the jacket on over my dri rider. The jacket was $50 and pants $30. I reckon they are great value for money.
