in the never ending quest to keep the Mrs happy, i sent my triumph long haul pillion, and my corbin to Roberti Customs to make me a seat that had the comfrot of corbin with the size of the triumph. the seat i got back was amazing and exactly what i asked for. pics to come.

all excited i go out to put the seat on the bike. guess what, the triumph long haul does not work with the corbin driver seat. this means my new custom seat will not fit. what i ended up doing was popping out the front staples and rolling back the leather cover. i cut the plastic down to the front seat mount and refitted. fits like a glove and not a big deal (using an air cutter). now all i need is to have the leather attached to the existing foam, it was previously stapled to the plastic. love this bike but it sucks having a new bike without many options for things like seats.

I'm looking to please the wife too. So the Triumph pillion is bigger but harder? And if I order the Corbin rider seat I'll have to adapt which to fit? Thanks for the help!

I think I'll get the Corbin rider seat and the long haul passenger seat. The wife likes the larger amount of real state for her butt. That's what you ended up doing right? Just had to trim the plastic on the long haul pillion a bit?

FTL40 could you explain again which is which in the pictures above please... I currently have the stock riders seat and stock pillion. I also have the same sort of requirements from "she who should be obeyed" .. I am looking at all sorts of ways to change the seating ergos.

My plan is to get the riders seat correct/done frst and then follow up with a pillion solution at a later date...

I bought another stock riders saddle and took it to a local seat builder, the intention was 2 fold... a. make it more comfortable, and b. stop me sitting up on the back edge. I am just over 6' 2" with an inside leg of ~33" and find the saddle a bit small/short, I'm almost sitting on the sloping back edge. I have removed the pillion saddle for now and have the curved chrome rack.

The builder seems to think that he won't be able to do what I want because the stock riders saddle is so curved and scooped if he padded up the back bit (for comfort) it would push me down and further forward, my suggestion to him was to make it a little more old fashioned, lose the scoop and make it flat from front to back (70s style) and I could have the whole of the saddle to sit on. The back of the plastic base is curved to suit and follow the contours of the rear mudguard making it difficult to re-fabricate a solution to allow me to sit further back.

Your pictures of the saddles don't look so scooped or curved, has something changed ? We are also looking for ways to mount a back rest perhaps utilising the iron pillion bracket. Your pictures of the pillion seat seem to show 2 studs at the front have you changed the fittings ?
Are the Corbin and the Longhaul plastic bases very different to the stock riders plastic base ?

PS any advice, infor or more pictures would be gratefully welcome .

Thanks
John

the bigger of the 2 seats if the longhaul seat redone by a custom shop, the other is a corbin. she loved the corbin but the seat forced her closer to me, she liked being further away from me. both seats also have a small dish in them that you cannot see from the pictures.

also corbin bakes a backrest to go with the pillion seat i believe which could possible solve both issues you are looking at. like i said the only reason i ended up having the longhaul redone is because she did not want to sit close to me lol. she never hold on when we ride and has gotton used to it.

Thank you FTL40, sorry it might be me but all the pictures above still look like the same two saddles to me.
