Thanks again Woody.

* Sports Screen A9748048 * 2 pairs of Kuryakyn 2-piece 49mm Fork Mounts #2287 * 1/16" rubber gasket material * double sided cellophane tape * 4 stainless steel button socket cap screws 5/16"x1" 18 tpi * 8 stainless steel nylon insert lock nuts 5/16"-18 * 4 regular nuts 5/16"-18
Steps to fit hardware:
* Take the 4 semicircular fork mounts with the hole for the screws. Using the 1" cap screws (disgard the 3/4" ones that came from Kuryakyn) add lock nuts tightly. * Cut up eight 3/4"x2" (19mm x 50mm) rubber strips. Wipe clean both sides of rubber strips. * Add double sided tape to one side of a rubber strip. Press into semicircular fork mount so that it is centered. Do not extend the rubber to the ends of semicircle -- doing so will spread apart the semicircular halves when mounted to the forks. Repeat for other seven halves. * Clean forks. Fit the 2 pairs of fork mounts to the forks such that they can slide and twist when pushed but not on their own. The cap screws should point out to the side, offset forward. * Fit the sports screen brackets using the 4 regular nuts, hand tight. * Fit the sports screen to the brackets, hand tight. * Making sure the brackets are centered around the dual headlights, I tightened the lower mounts to 1/2" above the turn signal clamps. (I clamped two stiff strips of wood to the sports screen brackets and projected them forward to check for alignment.) * Tighten the upper mounts. * Replace the regular nuts with lock nuts. * Tighten the hardware attaching the sports screen to the brackets. * Use a black (outdoor) nylon cable tie to hold accelerator cables from rubbing brackets. Check tightness after number of rides. That's it.

Hi Vince. Just have the national.cycles screen on mine. Have returned from 2 week tour of Europe and can confirm that she'll comfortably cruise at 160kph, verified by tomtom. 2 up, windy and sustained for 1/2 hr blasts. Don't need a.large ugly screen. Small is beautiful. Regards

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I had family business to attend to the last 2 weeks. I just got on the bike yesterday for a long ride.
I am 5'8" inseam 30". I use a dual longhaul seat. I also wear a 3/4 helmet with face shield.
The Rocket 3 sportscreen positioned as described put the air stream right under my face shield.
I then raised the screen brackets as high as could go, 3/4" from turn signal brackets to bottom of fork clamps. I also tilted the Rocket 3 screen forward 9/16" by adding nylon spacer and washer to the upper attachment screws only (between brackets and windshield.)
The results with the new arrangement: Up to 75 mph, 120 kph. Minimal body pressure. No side-to-side head buffetting. No front-to-back head buffetting. Increased wind noise. Air stream hits face shield. Bugs hit face shield as well as windscreen.
Small screen does not prevent buffetting when behind semi or tanker trucks or cross winds. Can crouch down (cafe racer style) into quiet zone. Still I got 49 mpg.
I'm still going to experiment because of the wind noise. Hope this helps. -- tStorm

Fitting the Rocket III Roadster Windscreen Kit A9748036 to the Storm. I used:
* Roadster Windscreen A9748036 * 2 pairs of Kuryakyn 2-piece 49mm Fork Mounts #2287 * 1/16" rubber gasket material * double sided cellophane tape
* 4 button socket cap screws 5/16"-18 x 1-1/2" (CHR 10703, SS 4424) * 8 lock nuts nylon insert 5/16"-18 (CHR 9459, SS 2555) * 4 round spacers 5/16"x 1/4" (5/8" O.D.) (CHR 13689, ZPS 13723) * 8 USS flat washers 1/4" (CHR 9479, ZPS 15021) * 4 Acorn or Cap Nuts (Chrome 9469, SS 2547)
(CHR=chrome plated, SS=stainless steel, ZPS=zinc plated steel numbers reference at www.boltdepot.com)
Steps to fit hardware:
* Take the 4 semicircular fork mounts with the hole for the screws. Using the 1-1/2" cap screws (discard the 3/4" ones that came from Kuryakyn) add spacers and lock nuts tightly. * Tighten the upper fork mounts as far up as possible. Hand tighten the lower mounts. * Fit the roadster intermediate brackets using (4) washers and lock nuts. * Tighten the lower mounts. Check that the outside-to-outside distance of the intermediate brackets is 14" (356mm). * With the help of someone, fit the roadster windscreen to the intermediate brackets. Tighten, adding a washer under the dome nuts.
Check tightness after a number of rides. That's it.
Adjustments:
The mounts have an offset. I offset them forward. One can offset them rearward to bring the screen about 1" rearward. One can offset the upper ones forward and the lower ones rearward to tilt the windscreen more vertical. One can offset the upper ones rearward and the lower ones forward to tilt the wind screen more horizontal.
The attachment of the windscreen to the intermediate brackets have slots. I have the windscreen as low as it goes, but it can be raised upto another 2" (50mm).
Other notes:
I used 1-1/2" cap screws. One could get by with 1-1/4". If one uses the short ones then no acorn or cap nuts are necessary. I used the longer ones for perhaps attaching lower wind deflectors.
The ride is great with some wind coming up from where lowers would go. I prefer it to the Rocket III Sports Screen.

Just wanted to thank tStorm for the awesome idea and instructions for the windscreen. I followed them step by step and ended up with a perfectly fit windshield. I did find that it seemed to fit better with two spacers per bolt (instructions called for one per bolt) on mine, but for some reason I accidentally doubled my order for spacers, so it worked out! Can't wait to test it out on my 5,000 mile road trip in less than two weeks! I'll post pics soon!

(Re: superbeast300) | | I am talking to a company about having one made with the National Cycle Switchblade Deflector. Although it fits my storm, I would like a bit more height and width, and I would also like the gap between the lights plugged...as there is still quite a bit of wind coming through to my check. I found a company called Precision Plastic Products who primarily does customs for HD's. They would be interested in looking at my setup. I would basically send them the screen, mounts and brackets, along with a card board cutout of the screen I envisioned. Then, I might finally have a shield that is made specifically for a Storm's configuration.

Has there been any progress on your efforts to develop a Storm specific screen? I am picking up my new Storm next week and intend to do several long trips early in the new year and I was considering shelling out for a Roadster screen and fitting ala Tstorm stlye just for those trips. The Roadster screen at least looks like it is meant for the bike and that it would offer plenty of protection. I normally ride with a blue tooth helmet to listen to music or talk to other riders on long trips so these smaller screens which leave you helmet in the wind are too noisy and not really an option. Any other options or advise gratefully accepted.

Tstorms rig with the r3 roadster screen is the best setup if you're up for the work. Windvests are good screens but won't offer as much protection. They mount on the bars and are easily removable. They're worth a look. They have a 16" high, 16" wide model for the storm.
