I've acquired enough gear to stay reasonably comfortable at temps down into the 40's, but I can't keep my digits warm. I wanted to try a set of deflectors like the ones pictured here: Link

This would of course mean modifying a set for the Harleys to fit the bird. Are there any other options out there? I had looked at getting a set of cheap dirt bike deflectors and modifying them as well Link

Any other suggestions?

Well, no option is going to look wonderful, but to be honest I reckon the National Cycle ones you had the first link to don't actually look *terrible* as opposed to some other solutions I have seen!

If I had to, I'd go with that option.

Buy heated gloves. That is the only answer I have found to keep the hands warm. 25 F here and road warm.

Heated hand grips help a lot as well, but the front of the fingers can still get a little cold.

... and once they are wet, they get even COLDER QUICKER!

I've only ever hand good experience with my hand guards on the old Tiger. I can go out with my summer gloves when the temperatures are down as low as +2 degree C! On the 'Bird that's IMPOSSIBLE (for more than 1 hour).

Birdy, any chance the ones for the Tiger could be adapted? I'd rather go with Triumph stuff if I can make it work.

No. They are actually aftermarket guards and not the OEM ones!
I have - since then - now fitted those f'ugly over muffin things, like they have in the deep, deep frozen lands.
You know the type - it covers over the end of your bars, covering EVERYTHING. You can't see the controls after fitting - but your hands are lovely and warm even in the minus temperatures.

Here you go, something like these:

I don't care how it looks - they're on my Tiger and it suits him in these conditions ;)

The batwing on my old Harley was the only thing that worked well for me. I don't use heated grips because it isn't cold long enough in SoCal to justify it.

These are the ones I currently have. Link . I also have the jacket liner. Pricey, yes, but well worth it. Again, i ride all year long and keeping warm is a must. As said above, this morning was 25 F when I left the house and I was nice and toasty riding to work.

Those covers that Birdy has use to be called Hippo hands. They work really well. The only drawback is they are a bit goofy, but when you are warm, who cares!!

Ditto for me on the old batwing... my last bike had one and I could wear my summer gloves down to near freezing and still be alright on the bike. I don't see the point in heating the palms of my hands when it's the fingers and knuckles that are freezing. Those plexi handshields mentioned earlier in the thread look interesting... might be worth a try for cold weather riding... reasonable compromise between hand protection and goofy looks.
