My 2010 TBird is still in the dealership, signed the papers and did the insurance, but it started snowing yesterday and I'm working 7-day/wk for most of the next month anyway, so figured it may as well stay warm and dry there while its waiting for the accessories I ordered to arrive.

I have a question for those with the longhaul seat. Looking at the "Create My Triumph" part of the manufacturer's website, it looks like the longhaul seat is actually about an inch higher than the stock seat... can someone confirm? I'm only 5'8" with a 29" inseam... the stock seat is positioned ok, a seat that lowers me would be fine, but I don't think I'd want one that raises me any.

I was thinking about the Corbin Dual Tour, but then have read on the Corbin site that it doesn't work with the Triumph sissybar... I think that's a non-starter for me as I'll need the rear luggage rack and the Corbin backrest doesn't have one.

Hi
The long haul single rider seat is slightly higher. I am the same size as you and have no problems with it. The riding comfort is far better. If you are going to have a pillion that you get on with and want to stay friends with (or married) you will need to get rid of the stock pillion seat.

Excellent, thanks... won't be taking a lot of passengers, mostly my son until he's old enough to start riding his own, but now and then my wife decides to ride with me instead of on her own bike and I have family visit periodically who all want rides. I'm mainly looking out for my own comfort as I want to put a riders backrest on, so Corbin and Longhaul are my only choices right now from what I have gathered.

Now that's very interesting... I'm not going to be in a huge rush to get the new seat, as the stocker seems to be comfy enough for me, although I've only been on it for short 15 minute scoots... I've ridden on Corbin seats with other bikes so if they are going to make another Dual Tour that can be used with the sissybar it may be worth it to wait for that. Thanks for the info!

I have the solo long haul seat & pillion long haul seat - I must say that I (5'7") find myself leaning more forward as the seat DOES lift you up a little more. Not much - as you said, possibly an inch or 2, but the second effect is that I now lean forward just a little more.

THIS leaning forward DOES annoy me! It puts a slightly different strain on my shoulders - one that doesn't really agree to me!

MAYBE (I hope) it would get better if I were to ride the seat in - but I've put the stock seat back and feel 100% happy with it.

?? Why did I buy it you ask:
Well my better half DID NOT like the stock pillion seat (as you could imagine) and so I bought the two long haul seats for when she joins me.

I'm 5'6" and ride with the dual long haul with no problems at all. Recently did a 3500 KM trip two up with us both enjoying the experience and no comfort issues.
The seat is certainly low enough for me to manouver the bike sitting down. I find it is very much easier to handle when stopped than the BMW I also own. (I was about to say the BMW I also ride, but since getting the T'Bird I've hardly started the BM.)

I am 5'11 and notice that the LH seat is taller and a bit wider than the solo seat. Never took any trips with the solo seat so can't compare. passengers still complain of some numbness after about 30 minutes on the road.

we are blessed with extremely flat asses so the seats tend to make us ache earlier!

I reckon the LH seat is incredibly unstylish. I don't like the "racey" synthetic covering they use... I don't like that it doesn't hug the riders seat but instead makes a sort of "airpocket covered by a soft balloon" that makes the seat look flat and boring. I don't like the overly soft foam that feels weird on your goolies.

I think their stock riders seat is the best stock seat I have ever sat on. Their stock passenger seat is criminal. Their LH options do not make for better alternatives. :(

Whatever you do - don't replace just the pillion pad with the LH pillion pad - I posted a while ago pictures of what it looks like....

If you wanna replace the pillion pad with LH pad, you will have to purchase the LH rider seat - or get the dual rider/pillion LH.

Well sorry for this but - after going to the NEC bike show, and yes I had a sit on the HD's, I felt that Triumph could have chucked a bit more effort into the seat. Being one of the most important comfort parts of the bike ,all the seat options are crap compared to what HD are offering. Ok Ok the HD's are not a patch for rider comfort position as the Bird (IMO) but the seats are brilliant. I am not blown away with the comfort on the LH seats but they are far better than the cheap as shit stockers. It pissed me off to have to hand over another £300 + quid for some comfort after laying £11k on the table to buy the bike.
