.....because it will take that long for him to receive the WARRANTY APPROVED NEW BELT ! Yep, he was able to get triumph to agree. so sometime during the week of the 8th i will have a 1700 with a new belt. Hate to have to wait another week, but at about $500 for a belt+labor i think i can hold out !

You got that right. A heck of a story. Triumph over Triumph. So, if your bike doesn't eat this one, it was "just" a bad
belt.

Well, mickey told me that with the marks lined up the wheel is as he said "cocked". He didn't even look at the marks, he just took one look at the wheel and said it was, so i assume he's experienced enough to tell. so he's going to install it and adjust it using the swingarm pivot as his guide. So apparently i wasn't a bad belt, but a misadjusted wheel. But you see, thats the way it came from the dealer ! I simply kept it adjusted by the marks exactly as it came from the dealer. So it's dealer pilot error, that is if you can call following the SM pilot error ! Thats my argument on this whole issue...no REAL data. But i think triumph agreed because i told mickey about how it was adjusted like that from the dealer, and that any adjustments I did I kept the same alignment until i noticed the issue with the belt, and at that point i adjusted it to put LESS pressure against the outer flange. So at that point i think he realized it was indeed not my fault and he probably convinced triumph after that, because the first time he asked they refused.

So i'll take note of the marks and how off they are after mickey adjusts it and i can then use that info to use the marks in the future when adjusting the belt.

And now you are on the record. Hopefully all will be fine. But, if not, you have the paper trail.

Thanks guys. And you wanna talk "anxious"?! I was already biting the bullet having to wait till what would have been tomorrow or thursday at the latest. Now another week or week and 1/2 further. Are you considering the kit Engage?

Well Daz, after 1100 miles on the kit, I can say she is fast!! I burned up a new Wide Glide bad yesterday, you know the one Cycle World called the real deal... Maybe it was the lack of a helmet and his hair flying in the air causing wind resistance that slowed him down...

Nice, tho you DO know don't you that it probably didn't bother him in the least, right? He's used to it i'm sure. When you ride a bike that scooters can have a go at with a reasonable chance of victory, you probably just figure getting dusted daily is par for the course. (sorry, just can't pass up a good HD jab when it's that easy)

I am.

I was hoping I would like the Storm a bit more. If that bike had caught my fancy, then I likely would have sold my bird and ordered a Storm with ABS. But the Storm isn't for me (unless it looks different in person) so I'm thinking of doing the BB kit in the spring. Given that I would like a second bike (Tiger or Bonneville) going the kit route makes more sense anyway (and - its been a good bike).

We you've brought me to say that fact that on my last ride I was rather emotional with my 'Bird - I had ridden the day out into the Black Forrest to visit Touratech AG to see if they had things for GPS systems and stuff like that.
Well on the way back it just felt sooooooo right! There I was, talking to my 'Bird - patting her on the tank!

I want/need to take her for a nice long tour some day soon - lets see what next Spring time brings
