| Posted : 30 Oct 2010 - 21:27 Post title : mra vario screen | | ok im getting old and following my mate (on his ktm 990 with screen and hand wind protectors who rides rather speedily) all around the borders earlier in the week in very blustery winds and rain i decided to buy a screen. there he sat in comfy cafes looking fresh without a fly on his kit wondering how i hung onto the bird in such conditions, i was wind battered and a biological exhibition of every insect going.
so i was looking for a screen that had a bit of attitude coupled with performance and it had to be small (ish). didnt want a harley type screen or something heavy like the triumph harley replicas.
perused a few alternatives like the dart and NC, eventually decided on this one. loved the idea of something a bit different but extremely functional. a small screen that thinks its a big one. if you fancy sommit alternative i can recommend.
this pic was at a cafe that had goats on the roof!!
and another
they do do a darker version in a smoke grey.

heres the link for the screen
Link
the code given here is the grey, the one i got had a different last digit. can call "giles" as there is a fitting kit to order too. he looked up his data base and noted another tbird owner had orderd a different screen ( the more usual cruiser one) so 2 styles to choose from and alternative clear or smoky grey options.
so far very effective
total cost including screen, fitting kit, vat and delivery £128, if you dont mind a trip to alfreton its £7 cheaper, the only advantage over the dart is the lip should eliminate helmet disturbance. a winter alternative perhaps?

1. The plastic was extremely thin... no more than 3/32".
2. The gimmicky adjustable top did not provide any advantage.
3. I don't recall (believe) that the plastic was Lexan (polycarbonate)... if not, it will shatter (in your face) with a good rock hit.
Just MHO, and $0.02. I wouldn't do it again.

"Shock resistant and shatterproof."
if it shatters they have problems
the plastic is about 3.5mm for the screen (thicker than some baths) and over 4mm for the lip

I am soon to be getting into production with some stainless steel brackets like mine and am just sorting a price for the kuri transformer backrests. I am just looking into making the fixing bobbins to take the pannier brackets ,which might be my own design. I will keep you informed.
Not forgotten.
