once the bags are snugged down into the slots they should be tight, mine loosened up over 600 miles thus the reason for the post. Again the EB guy sats sometime the metal is off spec ie. a little thinner than ordered and this can cause a looseness around the pegs/barrels. A thin shim did the trick with wd 40 to make removal easy.

Well my bags are on and the wiggle and looseness is still there, so much so that people are commenting when riding behind me. :(

Where exactly did you put this shim? Got a photo?

I'll have to get in touch with EasyBrackets and see what they have to say. I get the feeling the posts have been made with too large a gap for the metal used in the brackets.

I'll post up a video of how loose they are.

I'll try and get a shot of the shim but it is between the bracket and the post right where yoy drop the bags onto. the gap is between the flat metal with the notches cut and the mounting post.

Any word, Eddy?

I have a video (finally taken off my camera - just have to get it up onto YouTube) that shows very clearly how loose they are. Should I put it up and link it here or mail it direct to you?

Cheers,
Gonzo

It looks to me that the brackets move the bags away from the bike enough so that the bags clear the shocks. Is this true? I was looking at bags with a cut-out for the shocks because I thought it would be needed to clear the shocks.

If the slimline bags didn't have the cutout for the shocks, then they would indeed be hitting them - at least towards the top of the bag.

You are right, the brackets are angled so that they move the bottom of the bags away from the bike, so the shock cuttout in the slimlines is not required at the bottom, and even more of a waste of capacity is the cuttout the slimlines have for the non-existant pipes that a Harley might have.

I am taking my bags to a fiberglass specialist to see if they can do something about reclaiming that space. The thing is that it's not like the finished result has to be particularly pretty, since it is not seen at all. As long as it is waterproof. :)
