Thanks for the heads up.

We'll be hosting tunes here as well shortly. So we can capture all the custom tunes that people will be developing over time. There is a small hiccup on the hex upload currently but as soon as that is sorted there will be a sticky thread for use in managing and cataloging the tunes.

I know, i just was surprised he had those because I was under the impression dizze's was the only map he's even seen at this point. I guess some members have silently been sending him thiers.

Can anyone explain the difference between these two maps?

20306

Thunderbird 1600
Aftermarket exhaust
with secondary air injection
all markets except Japan

20359

Thunderbird 1600
Aftermarket exhaust
without secondary air injection
all markets except Japan

Have yet to get a cable and find out what map I have in mine at the moment - but I have an early 1600 with Tors.

Notice on the map info - one has SAI and one doesn't - does this mean that they are for different models - I seem to recall the earlier ones had the SAI and then triumph took it out because it was not needed - or does it mean that the one without SAI will turn the SAI off?

If I have SAI H/W will it bugger the bike loading the 20359 tune?

Unfortuantly due an almost complete lack of knowlege about tuning, I will be piggy backing on your efforts - I do computer and do them well - but ECU hardware and the actual bits on a bike that open & close and go up and down are a mystery for me!

I have had both of those tunes on my bike so far and several others (using the butt dyno so far to sort them out) I can't say as though I have noted much difference in the SAI off or on. The decel pop seems to be about the same, I also tried the SAI inlet line capped off with SAI on, that seems to pop more. Either way the SAI adds air after the engine, into the exhaust stream, it won't bugger the bike.
I would say that I feel that the bike has more pick up and winds out better on the 20306 than it did with the 20359 (which was recommended by D&D exhaust)

I just asked pretty much the same question at RAT the other day ! Heres my question, then the answer. By the way, i assume when he mentions "MIL" his answer he means it will give an error as i got when i tried to *read a map* that was outdated. I assume whatever the anagram MIL stands for whatever the error is you get when trying to *load a map* that the bike won't recognize due to a hardware difference. Notice he mentions "if the AI box is checked", which I take to mean if you load that map and it isn't checked then it may load and work w/o any error. Speculation tho so i dunno 4 sure.

This may be a stupid question because i think the answer should be obvious, but i gotta ask. I was looking at the Tbird OEM tunes and they say "with secondary air injection". Does this mean the map is for a bike that has the physical air injection on it or does it mean the map has AI enabled? I asked because i know that the first Thunderbirds that were made had AI and at some point about 6 months later they did away with it and the bikes after that point had no AI hardware. But i also know tuneECU has a checkbox for enabling or disabling AI. W/O going into why, I can think of at least a couple reasons i think the answer should be this means for bikes that have the AI hardware, but I wanted to be sure.

If map says 'with secondary injection' then it means it is for a bike with that equipment installed. If it is 'checked', then unless a solenoid valve is installed, it will give an MIL

10 tunes there now. Everything except a couple for the Japan market.

YaaaaH....Someone posted the 1700 TOR for SAI....that saved me $120 from the dealer.

The tuning clue variables are shaping to be;

Displacement vs SAI vs TOR vs Japan (or was that a Godzilla movie?)

Question.....what's to stop the dealer from just updating the tune after its changed back to the original?

The dealer states that they check for updates every time the bikes come in....if they see something other than a standard or a Triumph tune are they going to download the factory tune back to the bike

Solution #1- Do not take your bike to the dealer.

Solution #2- If you must take your bike to the dealer and they change the tune, you change it back to the one you want.

I can see them using it against the owner in any engine warrenty claims.

if your updating you map using a suitable triumph map for a new set of circumstances based on say using tors from stock you should be ok, after all triumph wrote that map for that circumstance.

but updating with a preferred map just because you feel your bike runs better ie a 1700 map on a 1600 they will im sure wave you away.

however its more than likely you will remap your bike with the original before you take it in, unless your unlucky

#2b - take the new tune. Save it. Post it. Return your bike to your custom map, with changes studied from the new map.
