Haven't tried them and won't be doing so either. The II was a decent tire but not great. Wear was about the same as other but a tiny bit better. Maybe somewhere between 500 and 1000 miles more. But they will have to be insanely better then the II to get close to the Avon Spirit ST. Nothing handles like that on the rear. The front is not as amazing but ok. I use the Avon cobra chrome up front. Great mileage and handles great. I'd recommend trying the spirit on the rear and one the front if u r one of those who feels they must be the same model, otherwise spirit rear and cobra front. The new commander III might be an improvement but like i said it will have to be a hell of one to match the Avons. I won't buy anything else since i tried them.

I have been unable to find any Cobra Chromes or Spirits in stock anywhere, or the commander II or III for that matter, I opted for a Bridgestone Exedra Max on the rear, only been on for a week so not sure how it will wear. I did have a cobra on the rear and got 10,000 miles out of it.

I hate to say this, but I had the exedra max on front and rear and they were the shortest lived of all the tires i tried which are many. The handled ok but wear was pathetic. Not sure why u can't find the Avon spirit because i saw them at a tone of places just a week or so ago when i was looking to buy again. Best price is almost always at chaparral motorsports. Haven't looked for a cobra for a while but i can't imagine why u didn't find them.

Here ya go...cobra front Link
and spirit rear... Link
You gotta work on your search skills !

I've had about ten rear commander two tyres and a few fronts. Both have out lasted the metzlers and Pirelli's, about the same as Avon Cobra on the front. No handling issues. I currently have a three on the rear but have not done enough distance to gauge wear, handling in the dry is as good as the two, not had it in the wet yet.

Well men, just though I would ask. I have the Excedra max on the rear with only 2 or 3 thousand miles on it.

thanks

I'm sticking with Avon Spirit ST front and rear. Feels like a much sportier bike over the stock tires. As for wear, I can't really say because I only put on a few thousand miles per year, but they still look good.

Thats been my go to rear for many tires now and it's the best w/o a doubt. But mine was bald and they've been out of stock so i thought i'd try a cobra which is what i like and use up front. Just rode it today for the first time and all that comes to mind is, "will it get much better once scrubbed in?" Because the feel and ride are not as good as the spirit. Just doesn't feel as refined at all. Maybe that will change once scrubbed but i'd like to hear from cobra users. I won't use anything else up front besides the cobra tho. Even the spirit isn't IMO as good on the front for me at least, and the one i tried lasted about 30% less than the cobra.
