The bike is in storage for a year, should I remove the battery for the extended time? I think about what may affect the CPU. Thnx

I ASSUME nothing will happen to the ECU if you leave the battery out . You will lose the info on the speedo but I would have that than a corroding and very weak battery connected.

Leave it on a battery tender. Or, better yet, RIDE it when you can (or both).
That bike should be out on the road for all to see, with all you've put into it.

Good info. I'll take a pic of the mileage should info be lost. I thought about disconnecting either the neg or pos wire too but as you said the battery may be corroded (unfortunately no trickle charge).

Your mileage will always be there, you will lose your trip odo readings and fuel level.

Thnx MotorMac, just like the Blue Babe.
Unfortunately there's no electricity at the storage facility. And I'll wander through AZ in the travel trailer....

Linkdog is correct, mileage is stored in non-volatile memory (aka read-only or ROM). Whatever you lose by disconnecting the battery will be lost the instant you disconnect power. No harm in that. Whatever settings that are lost (time, trip mileage, etc.) will be reset to default values.

I had a 1600 in 2009 and added the big bore kit, factory 1700 wasn't an option.

@Lee. And tires last a long time too! ...I'm saving her for the Black Hills Rally (Sturgis).

I thought my post would get a response

Don't forget that tyres deteriorate with age.
