Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone is doing tuning mods to 1700 LT with the later model ECU in Australia? I have just over 40K on mine (2014 model) and would like to try and improve on the standard tune, in particular the annoying mechanical noise that appears to be piston slap/pre-ignition.
Cheers,
Graham

Hey Graham.

As you probably already know, you can't modify the ECU on the LT and Commander. It will lock you out.

Basically the ECU's are the same, across all models, ( only the firmware is different on the LT and Commander ) so I think ( have not done it my self ) if you can locate an ECU from Storm or a 1600, then reprogram it ( fuel and ignition tables etc. ) then it should work, and you could play around.

Worst case you have to resell the ECU.

Graham you would have to use a Power Commander to modify tuning, see the Dynojet website and check if they have one available for yours, it then needs a good dyno tuner to smooth things out.

I was hoping the locked ECU might have been "freed up" with the new auto industry laws regarding this kind of thing. Sounds like I need to follow some of your suggestions and experiment for myself. Thanks for the suggestions. Time to look for a good Dyno workshop that's within reach of North East Vic.
Cheers,
Graham

Unfortunately things on here a bit quiet these days, due no doubt to FB. However if you are on FB go to the Thunderbird 1600/1700 page and ask there about a tuner in your area.
