Received my Monza gas cap today. One more part to complete the oldstyle look of my Tbird.
It looks fantastic, I think its the best gas cap you can buy, but very expensive indeed.
Sorry, current only pics made in the garage.

I agree...it looks great and is very expensive. I have one on my Bonnie and when I told my wife what I paid for it, she was convinced I had lost it. Still looks good, though...

... and how does it fit when you are turning fully RIGHT?
Does the switch housing come into contact with it?

obviously no my bike but I can't imagine there is any trouble. I had my stock bars set very low and never was particularly close to the gas cap. Now with the drag bar my switch housing hits the base of the tank fuel cap. As much as the monza cap would look great with the checker strip and white seat I can't see how I'd make it work ... shame. But in a stock setup I certainly can't see it being a problem.

No clearance issue, no contact with the switch housing

I don't suppose there is any way to lock the cap either is there?

Which brings up a question I've been meaning to ask.... Since gas is the price it is in Europe, do you have a problem with gas theft there? I've never had any real problems with it stateside (outside of the late 70's when it was fairly common) but I've begun to wonder what with the elevated price that an open tank might be too much of an invitation. How much of an issue is it?

As far as I know we don't have problems with gas thefts in Germany. It doesn't make sence to take the risk for getting a few litres out of a motorcycle also. I never park my motorcycles out of eyeshot, during night its in my garage, so no issue anyway.

I guess it's gonna depend where you leave the bike but I went for a locking cap to be on the safe side. Now I'm thinking of reverting to the stock cap 'cos having to fiddle with an extra key at the pump is a pain, and I'm pretty careful where I park anyway.

Best money I ever spent.

I have the locking gas cap as well, but more for the Triumph logo on it. Instead of reverting back, just don't lock it unless you feel you are in an unsafe area. That way you get the best of both worlds.

Just installed the Monza cap on my Bird also. I got the brushed version. Easy to put on and covers the dimple around the hole. Love the look.

Just got mine yesterday... after a 3 week back order!

Easy to install, simple to open and close, very well built & super-robust, very positive seal... one less thing to deal with at a fuel stop.

Expensive? HELL YES! Worth it? So far, I think so
