Ok, I like the headlamp shape, but hate the clear but slightly yellowish glass (indicating cheap glass), maybe its an under performing bulb(?) but the class just doesnt look clear like crystal. I wasnt impress with the brightness at dark... and when should that side marker bulb come on? I assuming when keyswitch is in park? I think mine is not working

Any ideas better head light/lighting

I wonder if it is OEM glass. Can you see the horizontal cuts in it. Also if you take it apart you may find that water has been seeping in and leaving a stain on the inside.

I think it original, but it is diffractional glass. I wasn't sure if it was water tight, and i need to adjust it too, so I plan to take it apart (and see why i cant seem to get the small bulb to work.

I have had my headlight assembly off many times. Once you unsprung the clips you will probably find some rust in there. So with out spending money just take it completely apart and clean if needed. That small bulb is called the position light, it's on so long as the key is on. It could be broken, it could have rust on the contacts. It is replacable. It's not a hard job just flip that rubber boot up. Twist out the bulb and remember how the holding clips go.

I can sorta see what your saying, I also see a dent in the housing. Once that is out of round in that particular spot you can be sure water is getting in. Notice how it's pronounced around the rim. From where I sit I would say that is the problem. Carefully take it apart and look at it from the inside out.

That one isn't mine, mine housing isn't bent or out of round, but still could be FeO2 staining, I will check for that, and clean it when I trouble shoot that parking marker bulb

Thanks

The back of the headlight is open to the environment. Maybe the bike didn't have a garage to stable in. I gone through 3 headlight bulbs. So they wear out. The parking bulb is shot or the contacts are. You will figure it out.
If it's not one of the two you will be trouble shooting. I guessing it's an easy fix. Rather than going to triumph for the bulb, try Batteries Plus

That parking light bulb was an 1891 (style), very common and found at autoparts store, mine was burnt out.. but the interior of the bulb housing looked clean too. Its just the poor glass quality which also blocks some of the project light.. Mine has the Sylvania Sliverstar Ultra but its not a bright as my OEM Stratoliner headligh bulb which I think is due to the poor quality glass of the Triumph, and i don't like the pattern on it as there are some cold spots slightly off center on high beam. I'm looking for an alternative, maybe a halo type swap out LED headlamp.

Brian I can't recommend an inexpensive LED headlight but the Day Maker that Harley uses from a in Canadain company, aren't cheap but they are intensely bright

In the meantime consider this for plastics. I've used it for years, TBird parts look new.

I do have some plexeus, yea, I guess that isnt glass, but thick plastic lens. I did order a 9003 H4 LED replacement (two pack incase early failure)

Thunder,

I had similar problem after I changed the bulb. Noticed little bit of mist in there. Took apart and cleaned with Q-tips and little rags and glass cleaner. Made a lot of difference.

good luck

Dan

If you decide to separate glass from reflector (typically glued together with silicone), be advised that the silver mirroring is extremely delicate and can easily be damaged. Resist the temptation to wipe it with anything - compressed air only.

I had a brand new headlight arrive with a slight haze on glass, just needed a cleaning. Hardest part was removing old silicone.

MotorMac,

Sorry guys I wasn't clear, I cleaned it thru the hole. I wasn't brave enough to separate and didn't have another.
