At the weekend I took the bike out for a run with my mate who was test riding a new rocket. I was out solo, normaly I ride with the other half as pillion. It was blustery and I had my touring screen fitted.
When I got up to around 90mph the bike started weaving. Going faster exagerated the motion so I had to back off.
Never been a problem 2 up. Was criusing at 100mph plus in europe and never had a problem, the only difference was having a pillion.
I spoke to my dealer at a meet the other night and he said he had come across it before.the bike being solid 2 up but getting a bit of a weave on solo.
Any body else experience this and if so other than remove the screen has anyone found anything that can eleviate this problem.

I imagine a screen changes the dynamics is a way that can't be determined and that this is probably not an uncommon issue on any bike with a screen fitted that hasn't been tested by the manufacturer. Wind forces are tricky. You may try adjusting the rear shocks and see if there is a 2 up and solo setting that works to eliminate this in either scenario. I would seem to me that any screen thats flatter more than arrow shaped is likely to cause issue at those speeds. Just a thought.

And, not much good has been said about the Triumph screens and this issue of buffeting and steering control.
That's why I use a Triumph Summer screen to get the wide cover and lower mounts for the little deflectors.
But, I get big wind pressure at my throat area.

Then I tried an 18" WindVest on the bars. No pressure on the neck, but on the sternum.

Then I set it up, with a little mod on the WindVest bracket to fit them together. Now I run with both screens. Works great.

Have you got any pics of Bird + Windvest fitted.

I had to turn the bracket upside down and drill/tap new fixing positions. But, works great.
The two pictures with no gap between, was before I put on the taller risers. What I like is that
both screens come off easily.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just been out today to the Triumph dealers at Chesterfield, my mate bought the rocket :) I was 2 up doing around 90-100mph on the M1 and had no stability issues. Guess it is a solo thing. given that I am nearly always 2 up I am not going to bother with suspension mods other than possibly winding the rear preload up another notch to make 2 up riding better.
I have found the screen to be to good when touring.

I ride two up all the time and have just put the rears to 4 - rides a lot better .

Yep, it's what I was going to suggest too.
When laden, I normally adjust the rear pre-load otherwise the front lightens and causes instability (the handlebars wriggle) at higher speeds.
