Hi all. I'm new to the forum as I am looking to switch bikes in the next few months from my Ducati Diavel to a Thunderbird Storm. I love the Diavel but I always feel like I am wasting it a bit as most of my riding is to rallies or touring so I always have gear strapped to the back on a Ventura rack. I considered the Indian Scout as an option but didn't want to lose too much grunt which is one of the things the Diavel delivers along with a big grin. The Storm seems to have the character and grunt I want and being a cruiser it is less of a compromise than the Diavel to throw on some luggage. So with that in mind I have bought some Givi E41 panniers and Easy Brackets in readiness for when I find the right bike at the right price.

I have seen the threads where this has been done before so I know they will fit okay but what I would like is some feedback on how the setup worked and any pitfalls to avoid. Is cornering clearance compromised by the larger cases as the Triumph bags are considerably smaller. Did exhaust heat cause any problems? Did pillions find that space on their pegs was reduced, did they find themselves partly sitting on the cases? I have only rarely carried a pillion but never say never.

Thanks.
