great work.

a suggestion on the poor visibility of the speedometer display. try angling it towards you. from your pix it looks like you could shim out the out side end of the speedo panel to try it out/ find an angle that works.

Here's the oil pressure and water temp senders in place. I'll probably paint (or polish?) the brass fittings, but this tested the gauges and pressure integrity of the setup. Fairing is also complete for now & ready for paint. I have not decided on any music setup (if any) for now, so have left that for another day.
I briefly considered a direct pressure gauge as the sender unit would be gone and the area much cleaner, but deciced against the oil line being continually flexed with the steering head figuring that it would likely fail and cause loss of oil pressure.

I would not be afraid using the tube solution. In the sixties and seventies we did nothing but, both in cars and on motorbikes. If done right, will last forever.

Nice Job Bob,
Although those Fairings are not my cup of tea, You have done and excellent job in show and describing what has to be done to do something that looks like it is supposed to be there and not something that looks like it came out of the Farm Shed.

P.S The Jack Be Quick system ( Both Front and Rear ) has been invaluable in my "rear end escapades" of the last month or so.

I don't think that can be done without a total rework of the mounting for the cluster.

Wow, nicely done, almost looks factory at first glance. And room to spare. Stereo?
BTW, most Garmins have an undocumented feature. Maybe you know this, but holding a finger on its battery icon in top-right corner for 5-6 seconds will reveal all sorts of device specs and info. Might be something in there about signal strength.

Nice job!

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know that.
There is room for speakers, but I'm going to give it some time before deciding what to do with the space.
I'm leaning toward mirrors to replace the stock stem mirrors.

"Glove Box" .... and yes, my Bird is a 2012.
Logo was downloaded from internet, printed on decal sheet, clearcoated onto aluminum disc, riveted to larger aluminum disc which was curved to fit opening.
Lock is from Lowes (File cabinet lock)

I went for the first long ride with the new fairing and 9" windshield yesterday; about 250 miles.
Temps were in the high 70s after snowfall just 5 days ago.
Wind protection and noise reduction is significant, even at 70+ MPH. So much so that the squeaky drive belt suddenly needs to be addressed!
Gauge visibility is far better than before. I wear a full face helmet that blocked view of speedo on the tank.
It does add a bit of weight up high, raising the CG, but that is easily gotten used to.
BTW, with warmer ambient temps, the water temp gauge seems to be measuring appropriately.
I may still consider relocating the sending unit nearer the thermostat, but that's for another time.
Overall, I'm very glad I did this. I've wanted to make my T-Bird more suitable for touring., and always disliked the tank mounted speedometer.
I've got a Tiger for shorter rides.
