Has anyone else noticed that your passenger is about a mile away from you when sitting back against the sissybar? Her arms get tired after a while from reaching out to hold onto me. I'm thinking of turing it around. Also, When sitting back that far, I'm wondering about using saddlebags- will she be able to get her legs around them if sitting back so far?

I have the red SE model that came with the sissy bar and bags. Yes, she sits back a little farther then on my America. We both
like the extra room. My wife doesn't hold on to me when we ride. She just sits back and enjoys. Every now and then she will rest her arms on my shoulders. Her legs clear the bags just fine and we have the Triumph foot boards. Hope this helps

I believe Matt made his own back rest simply because of the fact that the original Triumph rest is - as you rightly pointed out - a long way back!
I think he said he ended up with the rest being nearly vertical!!!

OK Last weekend I tried the turn the sissy bar bracket around, hoping to better the fitment of my tail-bag on the luggage rack.

my wife looked at it, and said" I am not sitting in that tiny space... its too close to the back rest on the long haul.

HOWEVER:

I believe that with the stock seats, (no rider backrest) the turned around could be OK.

and it could be better to have boobs as a backrest than that metal thingy anyway.

but that was my decide: on my bike stock seat: reverse the sissy bar.
on the longhaul: recline away.

YMMV

Are you kidding? It's a bit hard to miss!!!! I think it is a terrible look, frankly.

Teebird: > I believe that with the stock seats, (no rider backrest) the turned around could be OK.

Have you had your lady ride on the stock seat for anything longer than an hour? Do you want to stay married? :)

in regards to the quote below:

[Teebird: > I believe that with the stock seats, (no rider backrest) the turned around could be OK.

Gonzo]

I will dodge the last question as too risky to ever touch!! :) + :)=:=>-- better than :(=:>--

as to the former: yesterday on hour. even the long haul: wife said her butt hurt!!

my better post would have been: with the long haul dual seat, but without the rider backrest installed, the ride could work wtih thesissy bar reversed....

I did not try that, and we all know the riders backrest is a pain to on/off...

but still worth a try..

YMMV
