How does it mount? It looks like you have to cut a hole in the seat.

Is it comfortable?

Anyone selling one?

I think you need the long-haul seat, which comes with the bracket.

If its the rider back rest, it will only fit with the dual long haul seat which has provisions for the backrest.

yup you need the longhaul seat, there is a hole in it for the backrest, basically a plug witha leather like top that is bolted to the seat bottom. unbolt and rebolt the LH backrest. I don't have the BR just the LH seat.

I got the two seperate touring seats cos the dual was a long wait. Its a bummer that the backrest option is not available for both setups.

Bought a rider backrest days before I took my SE clockwise round England. Fitted it no problem but instantly disliked it as it does not allow you to slouch (I know) and relax. If you are of a bigger size, you might find the same, even with the very good adjustment range. Great bike though. Does anybody know where I can get a front fender extender that does not reqiure drilling through the metal?

just want to make sure...which slouch?.... I use both.

To slouch: A - a position of motorcycle comfort where the back is in a rounded "C" shape and the shoulders are forward.
i.e. If you don't stand straight up, you'll carry that slouch for the rest of your life!

or : B - a position of motorcycle comfort where the back is straight and the shoulders are back, legs spread a bit.
i.e. Don't slouch on the couch like that, me mum will be here any minute!

I'm 5'10" weigh 12 stones. And I'm looking at back rests. What would you do to make it fit for you? Thicker, leaned forward?

good God Man... 12 stones!!

Leave it to the English to make the usa use of the English non-metric system seem less archaic.

IIRC a stone is 20 pounds, and threfore at 240 you are a regular sized XXL.

I am a mere 11 stones (220 pounds, and I set the backrest at either 2 or 3, depending on one or two up. the first setting is way too far back for my handlebar setting. and 4 and 5 are for much shorter riders.

bottom line, with the height adjustment range,a nd the forward backward ranges, I think the triumph guys got it right on this. if you want slouch, then set the rest inthe lowest position as a butt-stop. if your a posture correct rider, set it on lower back full height.

it is a matter of effort to swing your leg over the tall setting, but that can be fixed cause they also allow the dang fool thing to fold forward.

A stone is only 14 lbs, therefore 12 stone = 168 and you are near 16 stone. (which is a bit better than my 18.5)

and to really trow a spanner into the works....

I weigh 104..... KG!

Which - I'm sure - will be a bigger number in lbs and yet a smaller number in stones!

So I'll take the middle unit of kg that'll give me a middle number value!!?

try pyramid plastic, i called them 2 months ago and they are developing one for the tbird. they will take back orders. they do them for a variety of triumphs and other bikes, mates got one on his guzzi. also are moulded to form around the lip, use 3m i think for adhesion-no bolts screws etc. look good :)

thatch: If I had 400 cubits to stretch my 14 stones over, then your 18.5 stones may well be shamed.

but rather than dwell on negatives, we are all just glad that these birds can fly with a heavy load on their backs!!!

Yes indeed .....

I'm more than pleased that the bird takes little notice of my big ass hanging on top of it. Big or little the bird does a nice job of handling the job.

(I just have to make sure to only talk smack around heavier guys that me .... yeah, I know, I don't to talk smack much)
