| Posted : 21 Apr 2017 - 10:08 Post title : T-bird is running also in Japan (very slightly) | | Harley Davidson's popularity in Japan is too high and T-BIRD is not popular at all. However, as a long-time Suzuki believer I bought T-BIRD feeling the smell of Suzuki. I think Suzuki should develop this motorcycle as "GR 1600" or "GSX 1600 LTD".

They will never get it right, with all that rattle, clacking, and other noise. Dino oil, out of the question.
Like a typical Jap bike, it would probably run perfect, no issues, no problems, what a boring bike.

| Posted : 21 Apr 2017 - 16:46 Post title : Re: T-bird is running also in Japan | | I'd buy it under certain conditions. If they use much better chrome than the junk they tend to use on japanese bikes and if overall build quality doesn't looks so cheap, I'm might well be in. Doesn't have to be AS nice as the bird but somewhere in the acceptable to good range between the 2. My reasons...
1. at this point and age I've stopped really caring about pride of ownership and the history of a brand like triumph in favor of eliminating all the things i don't like about triumph twins including those DREADED noises.
2. Japanese designs IMO usually have fantastic, reliable, and quiet good running engines that don't sound like a steel factory at full tilt.
3.overall cost of initial layout, maintenance, and parts is a lot cheaper.
4. dealer locations !!! You could live in the sahara desert and you'd end up less than 50 feet from the nearest hond/suzuki/kawi/yamaha dealer !
In other words, i want zero irritants and low cost so that i can just ride and not be constantly worrying about being able to afford to keep riding or whether a horribly disconcerting noise will ever go away, or whether the nearest dealership will disappear. Buy the way, the dealer i bought my Tbird from on '09 is gone, and the dealer i bought my speedmaster in '05 is gone. And the one that opened near me recently almost sold thier dealership a mere 2 years after it opened and only changed thier mind when the new bonnie line came out and sold like hotacakes. Otherwise they's no longer sell triumph too. So yeah, i'd be up for a asian Tbird if they do it right. Probably have better power too. I gave triumph my business and they have disappointed me in several ways so i'd certainly welcome a change.

I owned a Hardley Davidson for a short while and basically it's the worst bike I've ever owned..
1. under powered 2. over weight 3. handles like crap 4. almost no ground clearance 5. shit brakes 6. twice the cost of my storm..

The style, design and quality of the parts were wonderful not found in a motorbike made in Japan, but it was not worth repaying a long long loan when riding. Harley 's curse with Japanese Twin engines made in Japan was not a candidate from the beginning. (You only need to take a Harley if you buy it) Then, what remained was Honda's Valkyrie or Triumph's Thunderbird. But for me who dislikes Honda I have had little options.

Absolutely agreed! It is interesting to see the Japanese perspective of products from your home market. I had a 1992 GSXR1100 for a while. Nothing quite like it. Enjoy your Triumph!

I had one of these suzuki 550GT too, the only Jap road bike i ever owned...had a lot of fun on it coming down the east coast from Townsville to Melbourne on it. Between the cage drivers and the roo population trying to knock me off the bike a change of jocks was required more than once.....
