Text re-written from original post earlier today

A variation of British Customs Hog Slayers are now available after a redesign and a long hiatus in availability.

Here is the skinny, direct from my BC rep.

The new design is for use with the CAT only and called "Catback" this was meant to make the pipes California compliant and works with the stock heat shield, and uses TOR tune.

...now don't let that scare you away as a CAT by-pass pipe is available to go with the Hogslayers if purchased through me or directly through JBQ. I do not know of any other CAT-bypass available that ill work but they may. Currently I do NOT know if the stock heat shields will work using any CAT-less pipe set up, and they do not come with heat shields. Will look into this as there are aftermarket options if this is the case.

2009-2016 Thunderbird 1600/1700 not for LT or Commander

The older version of the Hog Slayer remains on back order, with no date of when it will be available.

Does your website still have the old description for the Hogslayers or is cat-less the only way you sell them?

Am I correct to assume that if it works with be JBQ elbows, then it would also work with the Meerkat crossover?

Just changed my site....The Hoggies are now made for use with CAT, to go CAT-less would require additional CAT-less product. Since I support JBQ that is what I am going to combine with and I checked with BC on fitment with the Hoggies.

I cannot speak to the Meerkat as I have not seen them, assume...likely but can't confirm it.

Did they by chance redesign the heat shield to cover the elbow? I love my slayers, but the elbow turned golden brown within a week.

To answer the obvious question, "Why remove the catalytic converter" (CAT)

1. HP gain. According to BC's dyno's performed when designing the pipes, there is only .75 or 3/4 horse power gain by removing the CAT (not changing the exhaust) I have had this confirmed by two other exhaust manufacturers.

2. Dropping the weight of some 20 lbs by removing the CAT

3. It does add some volume to any exhaust, stock or other brands as it is something of a mini muffler.

Everybody needs to weigh out how important these things are when deciding what to get or what to do.

My suspicion is that it was done to sell more of their exhausts overseas, where catalytic converters are required and motorcycles actually get inspected during registration.

There are many cities in USA also. I believe it used to be that if a metro area had more than 1/4 million population the Feds mandated pollution inspections, so the cat would have to be in place. Unless a guy wanted to install & remove it each year; not that big a job; he'd just leave it in place.
And yes, you can bet BC is adapting to the market.

I haven't seen them, but I suspect that if these new Hogslayers are slip-on replacements, then the stock heat shields should fit with or without a cat since the heat shields do not mount on the cat.

BTW the cat is a little under 10 pounds.

Unless that city is Milwaukee, WI where I think we have some pretty lax motorcycle regulations due to the Harley scene.

No helmets, no inspections and I've never seen a biker pulled over for a noise violation.

Living here, I forget that the rules are a little more strict elsewhere.

"Not for sale in California."
You're such a tease. Sounded like they might pass if used with cat box, but no.

I'm pretty sure in California, you can make no mods at all to any part of a system that involves intake/exhaust.
I was stationed there in the '70s and my car would not pass because of a Holley Carb.

I am waiting for them to give me specifics on the California details, was told previously could not sell there, have not had a go ahead on the new ones yet, even thought that is what I suspect they did the new ones that way..just have not had it confirmed.

Did they do a redesign of them or do they look the same? I'm a little confused about the "works with stock heat shield" comment. I'm not a big fan of the exposed bend in the Hog Slayers so if that's hidden by a heat shield these may be an interesting option.

UPDATE 8/25/16

OK I just confirmed, personally, by my own hands because this is what I prefer to do and what sets me apart.

The "New" Hoglslayer CATback was made to accommodate California laws and can now be sold in California because they utilize the catalytic converter.
The big plus, it will work with stock tune when the CAT is left in place.

The "New" Hogslayer CATaback can utilize JBQ CATless elbows. I cannot speak to other types available as I have not tried any other, but can confirm the JBQ combination. Using any Catless conversion will require a re-map. Short Off Road TOR map if you don't get it done on a Dyno. Or others you may find on here, but those I cannot speak to those.

I have also confirmed that it will now utilize the stock heat-shields! What this means is you can place the stock heat shields to cover over the joint, and it looks sweet!

Best of both worlds. If you want to keep your Cat in place, these pipes were designed for use in that fashion.

If you want to take your CAT off, these pipes will work with the use of JBQ Catless Elbow.

REPEAT: In both cases, you can use the stock heat-shield!

WILL NOT WORK ON COMMANDER OR LT

Dubai ! where are the gold cars and stuff in that huge driveway of his. I don't think that camera is giving the sound any justice , at least i hope not otherwise mine (older version) sound a whole lot better than those do. I do like the OEM shrouds on them though.

Any interest in adapters so that you can use your stock heat shields on the previous version of the HogSlayers?

I had a set of adapters made, nothing fancy but they work. If interested I can have more made. Not a profitable production just a service to those who want a better look.

I'd be interested. Could you post a photo so we can see what it looks like? I love my hog slayers, but I'd also love to cover up that golden colored s-bend.

Thx

Sorry, was not paying attention!

What I had made was a simple spacer circumferential that fills the gap of the stock heat shield clamps, if interested I can look into getting them reproduced.

e-mail me if interested: eddy@fasteddysports.com

Fellows that make stuff like doing it at one time.
