I have the BC Hogs on my silver bike now and like them.
but always wonder: what if hte cat box were emptied and reinstalled as a sound chamber/expansion chamber?
the fittings could still attach the TOR or standard exhausts.

I too have heard that the CAT isn't really doing anything. Had to be there for import regulations. I have also read that after about the first 1000 miles it's done/useless anyway. Since you already have the Hog Slayers you have nothing to loose. Keep us posted. Inquiring minds want to know.

There's 10 pounds of nothing in that thing. I'd agree it's not very restrictive but its removal does have an effect. As for what would be the result of emptying it, couldn't tell you, worth a shot though. I've thought several times of fitting an emergency tool kit in the void where my cat was. But honestly, how much roadside meching can you do on these bikes...

(Re: tee | | Someone at RAT posted that he drilled thru the area between the inlet and outlet. I can't remember the thread but if i find it i will post it here. Someone else replied tho and said if you drill thru the material in there you will inevitably leave bits which will get sucked back into the engine and damage it. So i wouldn't do it.

(Re: da | | um how does it get sucked back into the engine? there is a crossover in the exhaust right behind the o2 sensors before the cat, that would kinda kill any suction cause to other pipe would be pushing out exhaust creating a positive pressure in the pipes, right? i've never heard of a properly functioning street engine suckin through the exhaust

I don't what would render it useless. Catalytic Converters are not filters that clog and do not get used up, they merely provide a catalyst for a chemical reaction to occur (carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide in this case). The catalyst will work indefinitely unless a contaminate is introduced, such as lead.
