I just ordered D&D Boss Hog slip on mufflers from Fast Eddy's, anyone else running them? Better yet, anyone running them without the cat, if so what do they sound like. Saw a vid. with them but the guy still had the cat and it sounded nice.

I ran these for a couple of years on a 2010. IMHO they were the best sounding slip-ons. Well Dave Platts are sweet but a bit pricy.
D & D's, best bang for the buck. I ran them at different times with the cat, with the cat eliminator elbows (to loud for me) and a Meerkat crossover.

The D & D's with Meerkat are awesome, however I do believe you will enjoy the sound with the cat installed.
And they are American made, in Texas

I bought my D&D's (used) from MAG10 on this site back in November of 2011, Very easy install on my 2010 Thunderbird and I had the dealer put in the 20306 tune. Everyone who hears these likes the sound. I've met up with a few other Thunderbird owners over the past few years and haven't had a negative comment yet. They seem to get a bit louder with age so I guess it's the glass packs getting a litter thinner. I still have the CAT.

If I had to buy another set of mufflers, I would go with the D&D's again.

I'm gonna be running them without the cat, I was hoping they werent gonna be to loud. I'm having a PCV installed and its goin on the dyno . Wanted to go with Staintune but to damn expensive. I really like the way they look, to me better than all the others I could find.

How much would they charge you to do two dyno run?

One with the current pipes (with or without cat?), and one with the D&D's? Do your other mods first, so you're only comparing the pre/post exhaust swap???

Or, if you have time...and money....do several runs to get all of the incremental HP/TQ results based on each mod? That'd be SWEET!!!!

I would like to know but the curiousity is gonna break me lol. Dyno run is $300. I'm already into this for $1400, my wallet needs a break ! Horsepower is expensive and I doubt I'm gaining all that much.

We should set up a GoFundMe "cause" for a willing Tbirder that is located near a good and flexible dyno shop!!

Run through all of the different bolt-on mods and performance combinations to get some real data.

Some folks fund with $$ to pay for dyno runs and labor. Some folks temporarily donate the bits/parts for some lucky guy to bolt on and test out on his Bird!

If I had a dyno shop nearby, and time (4 kids, a travel intensive job) I'd do it!!

Oh well...thread hijack over!

I'll use mine as the guinea pig, when I get to the mod combo that produces the best results do I have to give the parts back?

The D&D's arrived Friday put em on and rode it yesterday, I have to say with the bypass elbows its a little louder than I wanted. I do not want to put the cat back on, does anyone think that a crossover pipe might quiet it down some.

What an idiot, you already answered didn't ya?LOL! I'll ask this then, was the meerkat worth the $$$, I mean did it quiet it down by slot and is that the reason you bought it?

Yes it did. I personally thought the elbows with the short TOR's and the D & D's were obnoxiously loud. When I ride, I ride. Gone for hours , days and I just can't handle that constant loud roar that some riders seems to be looking for.
I prefer to sneak up on you and blow by your azz verses you hear me coming for two miles.

For me I thought the Meerkat with the D & D's had a great throaty sound vs the elbows with the higher pitch, no shot gun blast backfires etc.
Just a bad azz sounding machine.

Was it worth the money, ehh. It's not cheap, but yes I believe it was.

Alright, Im sold then. The thing is I'm gonna try and live with it for a year, maybe. Depends on how bad it starts getting on my nerves, and if it starts cutting my rides short then I dont give a shite, im getting it. I want that nice sounding engine, not the high pitched sound you mentioned, I knew exactly what you meant .

Just keep searching the classifieds on all the forums, you could get lucky. I've seen a few used ones for sale. Heck I sold the one I had when I sold my 2010 Bird, $150.00 !

If you see it in the classifieds buy it on the spot or it's gone.

I brought my bike home from Harry's Machine yesterday and here are the dyno results. K&N airfilter, cat bypass elbows with D&D muffler's installed, 79.6 HP with peak HP at 4500 rpm, 107 ft. lbs. of torque at 3500 rpm. Monster torque but thought peak HP would be more.

I have the D&Ds with elbows, I wanted to reduce the sound and add back pressure to reduce popping, so I added short 4 inch by 1.5 inch baffles to the front inside of the elbows. The result was what I was looking for. Good luck.

I ordered them through Amazon, by googling (1.5 inch x 4 inch baffles) there is several company's that make baffles. I didn't use any packing.

I picked these up for $20, for the money why not.

I put a set of those baffles in today, 1.5 x4" I ordered from t.c bros., what a difference they made , the bike has got a real nice low toned grumble to it, I couldn't be happier with it. Thanks for the tip!

Very good, I'm glad the baffles worked out for you. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down.
