Whilst planning to install a gear indicator, I pondered a few locations and previous installs from other members had them in front of brake reservoir or in front of tank both look good, but I thought a central mini dash type setup with a few extras bits suited my needs.
Sorted a piece of 10mm SS flat bar and using the existing Tbar cross member as the guide, utilised the same width, base, bar end radius, but added a more pronounced top/front to provide a larger area for gauge/led placement, this extra portion also provided more room for underside cabling. Then added a lower lip for a "bit" of weather protection for the instruments. Had it drawn up and CNC machined by a local machine shop to same thickness as the Tbar cross member, but leaving the front lip at original flat bar thickness.
Using the flat bar may make more waste but eliminates any welding. The guys also made up a T6 alloy template using 12mm plate that polished up beautifully and I think would suffice and a bit cheaper to build.
Installing this micro dash maintains a clean line on the bars with
Gear indicator (GiPro) centre,
multi colour led voltage indicator (Gammatronix) and
alarm/immobiliser led.
Any additional small gauges or a mixture of bezels could be substituted to suit your own personal taste or requirements.
I asked for two 11mm holes @ 115mm centres for risers and two 6.5mm for LEDs and finalised the gear indicators location later.
Wired all three gadgets up, sourcing switched power from the 3 pin plug under the front of the tank and sourced a few 3 pin terminals from cycle terminal Link in the USA and a few for later from element14 Link in Aus.
To me It looks very minimal and easy to read, but not obtrusive.

The local machine shop, "Leisure Coast Welders" have a 12mm T6 Alloy template, CAD drawing ready for production and can be found using this Link their Facebook page or direct on 0242 56 3524.

Looks really good Dags.

Any chance you could give some details on connecting the gear indicator ?

Hornet its pretty straight forward, comes with connector to plug direct into the OBD2 terminal, then source a switched power.
Find a road that you can run up through all gears. Number 1 starts blinking, change up to 1, wait for 2 to blink and change up to 2 etc etc.
Here's a few links (Link Link )to get you started.

The cable exits from the end, so I used a Dremmel on the rear and bent the cable around to exit from the base, although I did contact Healtech and they advised they could make it that way for no extra cost.

Nice one Dags

Does the voltage LED glow with charge (all the time) or light up when charge is low?

Flashes red when I turn the key and solid green when running, so yes all the time.

Cool, that's not too hard to remember, I fitted a slightly "old school" one after I caught out with a not charging regulator.

I added one of those voltage/charging monitors last winter. Made a mount out of aluminum tubing and a P-clamp.

Part II

Bought a few 2 pin connectors and terminals that match the OEM blinker connectors and added two 5mm clear to green LEDs into the SS dash plate and linked them in-line from inside the headlight bucket.
Note: this has been mentioned before, but you may need to start the bike for these to work.
