So, some ppl have done some headlamp swaps, and I'm looking to do the same. I think I want to stay with the single lamp, but I want to go with one that's not so long out front. I'm looking to get the LS Flyscreen from Eddy, and I think it may look better if it's not sitting 2/3 of the way back of the bezel. I'm wondering about sizes- if I go onto the aftermarket sites, can I just pick one out? How will I know if it fits in the bracket on the bird? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks all!

How hard is the two-headlamp mod? I really like the look. I think the T-bird's light is too long- sticks out kind've far...

My headlamp set-up is actually very simple, as the lamps are from the Speed/Street Triple / Rocket III. But having said that - these lamps are not the cheapest on the market!
The only hard part is you have to fabricate 2 triangular pieces of metal to hold the lamp bracket:

I agree that the stock lamp looks a little bit odd - sticking out there.
That's why I opted for this modification - and I'm VERY happy about it!

Here's some pictures before and after:

My dealer is currently fitting a Speedmaster/Ameriaca headlamp onto a 'Bird! I'll photograph it once it's finished.

Actually, If i wanted to go to a smaller, single lamp, How would I know what to get? What would I measure, or has someone already done this and has the info??? Say, I used a catalog for Harley and found an aftermarket bucket I liked. How can I know it'll fit?

Oops. I have the Fat Bob dual light on my T-Bird and it looks fantastic and is well made. A little pricey ($350) but...

If you are NOT running the Triumph windscreens, it will bolt-up to the Bird right out of the box.

If you run the Triumph screens, you'll need to fabricate a small extension. I made mine out of 1/4" x 1.5" x about 2.5" steel. Drilled two holes, and bent it a bit... maybe 20 degrees. Without the extension, the lights hit the windshield mounts.

You pluck--up the courage and ride into your local HD dealer and ask them to show you the lamp in question.
Take pictures, ask the price, get them excited to the point that they start giving ideas as to how to install - at this point you then start converting the people around you - then go home and give it all 4 coats of looking at!

Hi there
Are there any (other) nice ideas for a larger headlamp than the standard one or the twin head lamp? Did not yet start active search, but would be great if there are already ideas around...Thanks...

Some options from adjure if you want to go replacing the bucket route.

Link

Comes in 4.5 in and 5.75 in and 7 inch buckets. You can get them with or with out the light (better deal with the light)
$220-$350 range depending upon how fancy, bucket only etc.

Well Birdy, I went to Triumph today to get a price on the Rocket3 headlight assemblies..................$900-00 !!
I think I might try and source them from the States !!

Also the housing of the lights are different from the Rocket to the Speed.

The two triangular brackets would be ok to make, but what is the light bracket off ? I looked at the rocket, speed and street and didn't recognise the bracket in any of them.

Oh and by the way, looks like the tank badges you got on yours are to be superseded. I put in an order (from England) no-one knows weather I'll get them or not. Fingers crossed!!

Eddie.

If I'm not mistaken, it's part of the fitting for the Rocket III Tourer!?
Or at least I thought it was... I'll get back to you on that one - will have to ask Roger at the dealer.

Coool... That would be good! Becoming even more 'special'

Well I hope you can sort things out OK.
It does sound like you have a large hurdle in front of you though.
