There will be people that either damage theirs or buy a second hand bike with a duel seat setup. I did ... paid circa 40 bucks for an unused seat. Someone might also like to have a custom seat built with the plastic pan/chassis.

(Re: Irish) | | Not worth anything, no, but I save mine for the day when I trade in my bike, that way I can throw the stock seat back on and resell the Mustang separately. No way I'm going to hand in my $600 two-piece Mustang with backrest on a bike that I'd get just as much for (or theraebouts) as with the stock seat.

one day you might want to trade her in, and when you do, just re-install all the stock items, and sell the upgraded stuff on ebay. that stuff will sell faster and for more money.
so you keep a "few" more items in the garage. wife got used to it. but then again, it's "my" garage.

LOL! That's the way to roll! I too regard that part of the property the same way ... so much so that the garage is alarmed and monitored with a system seperate from the rest of the property ... and the wife doesn't have the access codes. No need for you to be in there 'KEEP OUT'.
I should add that she has out buildings for the horses and I don't go anywhere near them ... by choice
