For all the hype about releasing the new Thunderbird and 100 factory accessories at the same time, Triumph sure lost a big piece of their veracity with me. In March a blind idiot in a pickup truck backed into my bike while it was parked in a parking space. It needed a few parts to replace those broken or scratched when the bike fell. Fortunately the damage was almost all cosmetic.

The parts began dribbling in about a month after they were ordered. A replacement mirror and brake lever took over 3 months and I'm still waiting for the windshield. I wonder which part they made 100 of? The "100 accessories" promise sure didn't refer to 100 different accessories.

Hope you don't get into a situation where you need parts to keep your Bird running! You'll be riding the shoe leather express for months. The dealers are as frustrated as I am.

Sorry to hear your still having problems. With all the people on this site we should have a bit of clout to get some answers from Triumph on availability of parts.

The reason the parts are dribbling in is because of the volcano. When all the flights were grounded
the parts started being shipped in by boat. It takes quite a bit longer for them to get here. I have ordered a
few accessories and it take a while for them to come in.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hang in there. The parts will come in. Just when, no one can be sure.

Ride Safe

My local dealer is about 100 miles from hinkley and a dual long haul seat was going to be six weeks. Don't know if that has got any better just lately. As far as I know there are no volcanoes between them - but don't quote me on that.

when i ordereb my lh dual i did have to place it on a back order format but it was delivered within 10 days, think it was seven.
the only other thing i ordered was the tbird "clutch" cover and that took less than a week. dont know though if there is a difference in delivery dates between standard accessories and parts.
although its a pain the bike is worth it, try calling triumph direct

ps can they not glean your parts from a shop model?

When I wanted to order the TT handlebar in February, my dealer told me that I won't get it until June, so I cancelled the order. Seems the Tbird is such a huge success that all the "popular" accessories are on backorder.

I'm usually quick to jump on the bashing bandwagon because i have had my share of bad customer service from them. And in respect to accessories it's no doubt been very bad. But considering most of the accessories are from other manufacturers that triumph contracted to make for them, chances are likely that some of them are not living up to thier deadlines. just saying it may not be all triumph's fault. I guess you could say it is to some degree because they apparently didn't negotiate with them the way they should have.

I agree - I like the stock look - plus a couple of extras. But it is bad for those that want to get all the bling.

i'm one of the bling guys and it has been a real bummer! Bought bike plus parts and i'm still waiting for sissy pad, they sent screen but no mounting kit, rack but no sissy bar. i rang customer service and he had a dismissive attitude as i was not being happy about the situation. I think some of it resession with some suppliers going under but when you order you expect to receive...........on the up side for you yanks - parts are going to you rather than locally to us. i live 60 miles from the factory and still await completion of order. good job the bike is not a dog but the dog's...........

OK....I'm a bit fed up with the excuses from Triumph....my brother lives 28.5miles from the factory, he tried to order cissybar+pad for me. He was told that they had a few available which were not earmarked, but it had to be ordered through the local dealer...(?).....he could not pick it up?!?! going to take 10-12wks!!!! F*** that! Anyone found a Cissybar-rack combo which works with T-Bird? I'm not telling my better half that she's gonna have to take her chances while riding pillion!!!

I share your irritation Feduke. I'm particularly annoyed about windshields, which I believe are made by National Cycle as part of their SwitchBlade series. They mark up the Triumph branded shields massively over what National sells Harley ones at, don't let National sell a Triumph version directly, AND don't keep enough stock to meet demand...all of which means that no-one gets the sale. Lose-Lose.

Love the bike, hate being gouged for accessories,

I was warned of this when my bike arrived.

Triumph, stop being such cheap asses and make the parts. It's all well and good to adopt a just enough, just in time philosphy but you need to have sufficient stocks. Tracking and forcasting demand against sales the adjusting supply is the key. Dont allow some marketing bone head who doesnt ride (you know who you are) to specualte on parts sales.

Well said Keets..and its bizare that its been just basic items

maybe bone head doesnt realise a sissy bar and rack comes in handy and when
he did make one he was trying to outdo the eiffel tower.

Hang on, maybe he thought that was something to do with ride naked

I'm waiting on rear sensor for ABS no spares in country 3 to 4 weeks wait so no ABS at moment:

This is 8th warranty problem in 5 months -Speedo, 2 oil leaks, 3 coolant leaks, throttle handgrip broken and rear sensor.
Plus BB tune did not work on my bike running far to lean so they put back the TORs tune and adjusted the fuel pressure
also chrome peeling on dust cover front fork
Not happy
