Just got off the phone from HardStreet and they are finalising the dimensions of a new Slimbag they are making called the "Slimbag SP" designed for the Harley Sportster.

Basically same design as the Slimbags, but shorter so as not to make you relocate your turn signals, while still fitting the bags closer to the bike.

I certainly like the looks of them, but going by the photos people have put up here, the huge gap that is forced up us because of the length of the bags (to clear the blinkers) is a tad unsightly to me. I figure that the Sportster has a similar bobbed fender as the Thunderbird, so anything that looks good on that bike should work on ours.

Anyway, they took down my email address and when I hear more details, I'll post it up.

Attached is a photo that has the only information available to date. :\

wonder how much stuff you can put into 1250 SQ inches? course it advertises slim bags, so perhaps these are two dimensional bags?

anyway they look promising for those that like hard bags.

Just got off the phone from Rick at Hardstreet and found out two things:

He reckons the Slimbag Sports will be ready in 3 ??? 4 weeks. (OK, I could live with that.)
But the dimensions have been set and they are: 21" long, 11" tall and 6" wide. (It was the length of the standard ones at 22" that had me worried, but at only 1" shorter, yet losing a fair bit of capacity, it really is not worth going to the Sports.

So there you have it, decision made. Will have to go with the standard Slimbags for now.

I think it is a shame, though. Surely the Thunderbird is outselling the Sportster?

I reckon bags that would be shorter (coming up to the blinkers, not past them), without the divot for the swingarm that is not required, and keeping them the same height and width for capacity, would sell very well for our Birds.

Let's hope Corbin come out with something sexy and cash in. :)

Harley sells well over 200,000 motorcycles a year. Sportster is the entry level. So, surely not.

Oh, OK... Well Thunderbirds are outselling Sporties here in Australia, so thought it was the same worldwide. Bummer. :\

Nice thought to be in a place like that. Around here, it's all Harley, if you count the clones.
Yard Guys, landscape maintenace, next door see mine in the garage and after I told them, asked ..very sincerely
"A Honda Triumph?" But then, when they realized they were't looking at an old 650 Honda,
well, one had a picture of him and his softtail, in his wallet.

IAC, Hey, about this "other" bag. What is that directly below the seat? That reminds me of the
calvery saddlebag idea.

What if...calvery bags over the (protected/replaced/removed) side covers? Birdy? There is money waiting.
