Any ideas about the advantages or disadvantages of adding scotch guard to the fuel tank to help eliminate potential harm from stone chipping...good idea?...also would appreciate ideas for putting it on correctly...should a professional do this??...cheers Tal

I thought that was a fabric protectant! Never heard of Scothhguard as a paint protectant.

Maybe he meant stone guard probably pickup some of those small clear chip guard things at an auto parts store. I think Triumph makes them for the Tigers. Just use a little water with a little soap and a hard squeegee and then a heat gun to get the air bubbles out, not that hard

currently on a slow Harley but will have another Triumph eventually

No he's talking about that 3M VentureShield film. I've yet to see any of those films applied properly. You can always see it and IMHO it detracts from the aesthetics of the bike. These days I'm of the mind to let the bike pick up its character marks and then if necessary ... get it repainted if it all looks too shabby.

I posted a review of the Triumph Paint Protection Kit a while back, with photos: Link
If you can install a screen protector on your phone (without bubbles), you can install the paint protection kit.

yep its a paint protection shield...Link is where you can purchase for a lot of different bikes...a cobber put me on to it so have bought one and now awaiting the delivery of it. Don't want to start putting it on and cock it up. Should stop stone chips from other bikes/cars hopefully!
