Added the cowl today to the Bird. The air flow is smoothed out considerably with it on . Makes for a much smoother ride .

Just thought Id share the info .

Do you think it would be better than a small fly screen.

Hi Matt

I fitted small Fly Screen, similar to the Speedmaster and I line the lines. Smothes out considerably and comfortable to cruise ton up.

Sounds similar to the small fly screen then. All I am noticing is a smooth stream of air that makes the ride much quieter and more pleasant on the head.

I imagine the screen is better tbh as it is a bit higher but I actually like the look of the cowl as it makes the bike look mean hehehe.

nevver liked the cowl,
although like some say it does give a sporty look which i agree with when the rest of the bike suits ( eg shorties)
however i did like the look of the dart screen.
each to their own

I can honestly say I REALY did NOT like the cowl when it was first presented! Everywhere the Blue & White 'Bird with what looked to me as some kind of space-aged super-small thing stuck around the light.

BUT... after seeing one or two of those black 'Birds with it fitted, I must say - it's growing on me.
But not to the point that I'd be getting myself one!

Birdy,
What do you mean super small? Its a normal size for a headlight cowl?

Went out tonight for a blast and had her up to 110 mph and the difference is amazing. Totaly clean air like the bike wasnt there at all . Takes a little presure off the chest too . A much nicer ride I have to say.

Wow, thats making me want one ! I wondered whether it would improve or make the air stream worse. Wish i could try b4 i buy tho, as it could surely vary depending on the rider, helmet, who knows what else. But i never liked the look of screens, but i could live with the cowl. I like it to some degree, but prefer no cowl. But with the air stream improvment i could be swayed. One thing that kills me on long trip and freeway jaunts is the buffeting. The R3 was even worse tho. I'd almost require a screen on that thing.

I would like to get the cowl - but I have seen one on the (slower) blue bike and didn't like the way it looked. What I would like on my black bike is the cowl but done in a Union Jack!

I have the stencils all done to paint the radiator grill - I was going to put a Union Jack there! It will be 'faint' but (hopefully) will still look smick! (Just need a source of income first!

Got a picture of it on your bike? Triumph just has a chopped picture, interested in what it looks like from full profile. From description on Triumph site...do you need to remove the stock headlight? is it an easy switch back or easy to remove? Gut feeling was I didn't like the look at first but then it is starting to grow on me. Good place to get creative too with out messing up look.

Photos attached of my cowl when I had it in place, have since removed it as I found I did not like it all that much, looks better on the black birds though.
The kit comes with a half headlight shell with the brackets attached for quick installation.
The pipes are my own design and build, excellent note and no loss of torque, currently running with cat in place.
Have run with bypass pipes ,but far too much popping on deceleration ,you lose a lot of torque when you install just the bypass pipes ,you need to install some lollypop type baffles in the bypass section to retain enough back pressure(at least two in each side for optimum results),will reinstall bypass when TB comes up with a richer tune to eliminate the decel popping.
Cheers.
Steve

Its growing on me more each time I see one. Do you think it would look better if the top half of it was clear?

I reckon they look alright. I like a large windscreen and that's what I have on mine at present.

The cowl never grabbed me personally and where i am the M109 suzuki cruiser is gaining popularity
and they have something similar. I want to keep distinctive.

No bufetting at all. Just clean air like you are sticking your head out a car window.

I definatly got more turbulance without the cowl. And it is certainly not for everyones taste. I can understand the reluctance of some
to adding it but for me the increased pleasure of the ride is well worth it.
