..... So I get home and jump on the Bird and I wail down I95 at 85mph smooth as glass and I am pegging at at least 4K rpms. I think I will keep my bike a little while longer. Shit why change it? It is all set up the way I like and I don't feel like starting all over. |

Good man!! Honestly, it's taken me a few years to fully come to terms with my SE. But I love it now

I think my dealer is out of touch with what other dealers are doing though. He had it priced at $9,995. There are brand new '14 t-birds on e-bay for $10,995. One in Daytona Beach is even a Commander. Maybe he is just trying to clear the '14s.

But he will put it on the lot for 8K plus he will hit up the new buyer for 600 in dealer fees plus another 600 in "reconditioning" fees. So he is looking to get 9200 total when he resells your old bike.

| Posted : 26 Apr 2016 - 19:34 Post title : Re: 2010 T Bird SE for sale (Re: Nanook) | | I also own a 2010 SE model.Four years ago,I was looking at a brandy new Moto Guzzi,California 1400 Tourer, and the STEALER I was trying to do business with, offered me a warping $2800 for my SE in trade towards a $20,000 machine. At the time,I had alittle over 20,000 miles on it and fair market value on the SE,at that time, was almost $11,000.Trade in was around $7000.Yet this STEALER only offered me $2800??? Naturally,I passed! Then,a month later, another Guzzi STEALER offered me $2200 for my SE on a trade.Well I don't think so! And today, the same SE is runnin better then it ever has,yet has over 98,000 miles on it and has NEVER been down, yet I'll betcha I can get around $2200 or better on a private sale! Go figure!!

| Posted : 27 Apr 2016 - 14:30 Post title : Re: 2010 T Bird SE for sale (Re: davetac1) | | Allot of is has to do with the margin in the new unit they are selling and any manufacture discounts they might be getting on their floor plans when they sell the new ones. For instance, lets just say the new unit has 1500 margin in it at list (I don't know this by the way) and the unit has been on the floor for a while or is a prior year, triumph will have programs that will kick back an additional 2-5% or a flat 1k or something when sold (possibly more for older new units on the floor) plus if you are financing the dealership will also get a kick back from the lending institution for about another 2% of the loan or something like that. so 1500+1K+300 = 2800 profit (but likely more in many instances). so bike books at 5k, they take 2k profit from the 2800 show they give you 7k on paper and still walk away with 800 profit (likely more) put your bike on the floor for 9900 (only have 5k into it) sell it for 6500 makes another 1500+800 and still makes 2300 on the whole deal. Car sales, bike sales, its all the same all smoke and mirrors.
