At the risk of offending the retro purists out there, does anyone know someone in New South Wales, Oz, who can supply and fit an Acewell 2853CP digital speedo to my T-Bird?

I can't answer for you. However, I think that you will need to retain your original speedo for the bike to run. Are you planning to use two? I would like to relocate mine and an Acewell would be nice, but I don't see any point in having two.

Sure wish Triumph would offer an option of handlebar mounted analog gauges, and leave the computer elsewhere.

I was planning to retain the original speedo and use two. That would also aid with the calibration of the Acewell.
I find it inconvenient to have to move my head down to read the instruments on the tank, especially when travelling at speed on winding, country roads. A gauge on the handlebars could be read by just moving my eyes.

What a great idea.
Heaps cheaper than an Acewell, which is $270+ plus installation.
What's the data download rate on the iPhone like? Negligible I suppose.

Hi Mark,
Never bothered to check regarding the data and havn't noticed any change in my bill.
There are also a few different colours for the text to assist in different weather conditions.

Hi Dags,
I'm testing some apps on my iPad now in preparation for purchasing a new iPhone later this month.
I have an iPad mounting bracket for a microphone stand. Maybe I could adapt that for the bike.
I'll give it a go.

Dags,

Can I ask what iPhone mount you use? I love that solution.

Thanks!

There's also the iPod Touch BTW - it's basically an iPhone without the phone, does everything the iPad does in a smaller package.
Nicely done, Dags!

Dags does the app keep the screen active all the time or does it go to sleep as per normal iPhone? Reactivating on the run would be a PIA.

Hey bschartz,
Its a LEXINMOTO Universal Phone & Gadget Medium Case with Chrome Handlebar Mount, bought of flea bay. Chrome handlebar bracket had good quality chrome but the backing plate that holds the bag is average, but you cant see it.

Heres the Link from the Accessories thread.
