Hopefully a quick and easy question. I've seen the odd comment here and there on other forums suggesting poor chrome quality on the Thunderbird LT. Assuming the chrome is kept reasonably clean, is this something that owners out there have actually experienced? I'm thinking this is likely not an issue but figure you good folks may have some words of wisdom on this. Thanks all.

Can't comment on the LT, but my Tbird has a fair bit of chrome including the wheels and I have no complaints at all. It may be different for those living in areas where salt is used on the roads or in a very wet climate, we have a lot of humidity and so far so good. I bought the bike late 2010 new and keep it garaged.

My one exhaust on my LT has gone blue. Not sure if that is considered bad chrome quality.

LT is a stunning cruiser all round. (I have owned a 2011 T-Bird and a Victory). But I am afraid to say that the quality on this bike is not good at all. Triumph must up their game on quality. My LT has been at the dealer on and off for almost 4 months during my 10 month ownership. That sucked a bit. thank goodness I have the explorer to help my patience.

Anyways, It seems all the teething problems are now sorted and I now 9,000km on the clock.

For all the LT owners, brace yourself. A new rear tyre (white walled jobby) costs $800 in South Africa. Not sure if its the same else where in the world

Lucky Dangerous Dave hasn't got one, that's $16,000 he would have spent on tyres so far !

I've got a 2009 model and I would say the chrome is fine. I ride all year in rain and salt through winter and I have no chrome problems. Unless they outsource chrome plating, I can't see why the LT should be any different. I don't have chrome wheels, some have had problems with them.

There were a few issues a few years back mainly the wheels and pulleys. I think it was because of the poor substrate.

Not sure about anyone else but i have noticed more issues being brought up about accesories and issues with chrome as apposed to anything that came with the bike when you buy it. I question the quality control from their Asian mnf at times for sure, i will never take a box home before openeing it and looking at everything.
