I got Powerlet 3 years ago. Works a treat. Wish I got it 20 years ago.

Got my Gerbing gear about 5 years back (jacket liner and gloves), love it!!! FYI Gerbing sold their company it is no longer Gerbing Heated Clothing Inc. They changed hands and they are Gerbing LLC. Warranties changed among other things.

I have a pair of gloves - did 150 miles with them at 4℃ without any problems.

The only thing about using heated clothing is,YOU HAVE TO BE AWARE of how much POWER you're drawing from your ELECTRICAL SYSTEM at all times[another reason why I installed a voltmeter]. WHY??? Because, depending on the capacity of your stator,[the Tbird uses a 45 amp stator] and whether or not you have a full set,a partial set,or more then one set [for a passenger] ,and how high you have the thermostat adjusted,[if you have one] the draw from the heated clothing TAXES the shit out of the electrical system. And if you DO NOT have enough voltage to power the bike's electronics, damage can and will be done to the bike's system,as too little voltage is just as bad as too much voltage. So you need to be aware of that when using the bike's electrical system to power the heated clothing.

But there is another option available, rechargeable batteries [good for approximately four hours] that can be purchased from the clothing manufactures so ya don't use the bike's electrical system. Many police agencies use em for their motor units due to the fact that the officer is on and off his bike and needs to leave it running to operate the strobe lights, flashers, and radio. Dave!!!

I've been considering heated gear lately.
So the T-Bird's electrical system has adequate power to supply a jacket, pants and gloves??
No problems?
Gerbing last a long time??
What about Joe Rocket or Firstgear, others?

Running the Gerbings jacket liner and gloves with a wireless dual controller from Powerlet. Additionally I ALWAYS run the high beam in daylight along with small front accessory lights, the rear turn signals have been converted to running lights as well.
No issues.

When I'm stopping the bike, for fuel, food, end of ride etc. I make sure to turn the heated gear off just before my arrival, as well I turn off the accessory lights and high beam.

Party on !

I bought my Gerbing lectric clothing [jacket liner, pants, gloves, socks, and thermostat] back in 99, shortly after buying my RSV brandy new,and continue to use em today on my Tbird. But,unless you're a real die hard like me,or do some riding in real cold temps, the gloves, jacket liner and thermostat should be all you'll need.My RSV only had a 30 amp system where the Tbird has a 45 amp system.[better system, more amperage] I also installed a digital voltmeter to monitor how much power I'm drawing from the system at any given time [with or without the lectric clothing plugged in] so I don't kill the battery or drop the batteries voltage too much which will damage the machines' electrical system as electric clothing has a pretty good draw.At higher rpm,the system will handle the load with no problem. But at low rpm, like when idling or moving in slow traffic, you'll need to turn the thermostat down so ya don't over tax the system or place too much of a draw on it which will place the battery in a less then a satisfactory state of charge. [the reason for the voltmeter] So as long as you keep an eye on it the volt meter, and don't run two full sets of heated clothing[passenger] you shouldn't have any problems.

I can't speak for the other manufacturers heated clothing because at the time I bought mine,Gerbing was rated #1,but suspect that today they're all probably just as good. Most of the guys I know, who use heated clothing, are running Gerbing, but that's not to say the other brands aren't just as good. You'll have to do some research on the other brands for comparison. I appologise for not being more help to ya!!! Dave!!!

I run mobile warming jacket and Fly heated gloves that have separate batteries and on high they will last about 2 hours on 50% they last about 4 hours. My commute is only 20 minutes so they work fine for me. Rode to work last to mornings in the 30's and did fine.

currently on a slow Harley but will have another Triumph eventually
