i see they finally posted the tbird on there site. they only lis tunes for the 1600 tho. any idea if they have 1700 tunes? i know tune ecu is free but if the tuneboy tunes are good then it will make a better starting point for future mods like airbox removal. i have used there tunes on a rocket and am very impressed with how the bike runs. plus i already have the cable so would only have to buy another key. and lastly the only tuner near me who knows this type of software refuses to tune with freeware and is authorized in tuneboy. so any 1700 guys have it?

There was SpeedBird. Netherlands? But, his tuner said he would not appreciate his working being shown for free.
Something like that. At one point it looked like they would do a tune for 1700, but, who knows. They don't have the
open business model. I'm sure the tunes are good, but $500 for a software key is pretty steep, if you ask me.

yes tuneboy has several tunes for the 1700,just pay for the tune key and you can get them
i dont think $500 is to much, how much time and how much dyno time have you invested dizze
i know tuneboy has spent 5+ hours getting my tunes spot on,so he can then on sell a quality product
plus tuneboy has a lot more options in its soft ware than the other tune options out there

it would only cost me 200 as i already have the cable. and i know he knows how to tune and think with the limited options we have right now it is worth it.

So you're saying Tuneboy has the stock tunes for the 1700 but just doesn't post them on their web site?

I wouldn't spend any money to upgrade my Tuneboy without a guarantee that they have the stock 1700 tunes.

Foran makes a crossover? I know Staintune makes one and that it's universal.

Had my 1700 Storm done last week.
Foran pipes, cat removed, crossover installed, K&N filter, airboxseal removed, Tuneboy Tune and Dyno.
I was expecting the big difference to be mainly on paper, but was very impressed with the very noticeable improvement on the road.

The Dyno sheet only shows a bit over 6hp and 5nm torque gains from Triumph Tune to the Tuneboy tune. (both runs with the above mods)
I should have had a Dyno run in stock trim first, then i would see how much gain was from the pipes & mods and how much gain from the tune, but too late now.....

Anyhow, I am totally happy at this early stage with the look, sound, quality and the very noticeable performance improvements.....

I have read all the posts on different tuning maps, spoke to 4 dyno tuners and settled on Tuneboy.

I do a lot of country riding and am running a 2012 / 1600 with Hogslayes, Catless no crossover pipe, tune boy, K&N filter with top filter seal removed and Dynoed.

I had immediate gain, especially mid range, which is where I wanted it most of all. Around 5-7% gain.
I have encounted Decel popping, which I intend to smooth out a little over the next few weeks. Other than that I am very impressed. Have tried 91 /95 /98 octane unleaded. I prefer 95 octane, "brings out the mongrel in a bike".

I have ridden and followed a 2013 / 1700 with the Forans, tune boy kit and dyno etc. Very Impressed.

I have followed a 1600 big bore with the mods and Staintunes.

In my opinion, to do it again, I would stay with Tune boy and spend an extra $750 to $800 and buy a set of Forans . (cross over pipe does maintain better, negitive pressue balance, between pipes ) They are very well suited to the Tbirds for performance balance, smoothness and pickup with Tune Boy mapping.

Tune Boy..... My bike hammers.

Well, you are correct, and I have spent, myself, a bit more than that by now.

But, if we amortize that by the brothers that use it, also:

daz
cornerbanger
thatch
silverfish's custom 1600
(who else?)

IAC, I've got nothing against it. It is a different business model, but not un-fair. They have more features to be
sure. And I know the tunes are quality.

It's not something I usually monitor, fuel economy doesn't worry me with my bikes, but after yesterdays ride there appears to be very little difference, if any at all.

When I checked in October last year, it was around 18 kilometres to the litre on a trip and 16 K/L on a spirited ride.
(sorry unsure miles/gallons)

I'll make an effort to monitor it more closely and put the results up here when they are in.

I just got back from a 1,377 kilometre spirited ride through Northern NSW. I try to stay away from the highways, so mostly mountain roads and twisties, Putty Rd, Buckets Way, Thunderbolts Way, Waterfall Way, etc, etc .....

The economy varied from 14.0 klm a litre to 16.3 klm a litre. Which is a bit of a drop from what I thought I was getting on the stock set up back in October. I can only assume the pipes, decat, tuneboy etc... reduce the fuel economy, but I expected a drop with the increase in performance.

Here is a brief summary of the results. I included a conversion for US and Imperial gallons also..

............... KLM ......... MILES ........... LITRES ....... US GAL ....... IMP GAL
TOTAL ... 1377 ........ 855.62 ........... 90.23 ........ 23.81 .......... 19.84

AVGE ...... KLM/LTR .......... US M/GAL ............. IMP M/GAL
................ 15.26 ................ 35.93 ................... 43.12
