I have just sent the manufacturers here in Austalia an Email asking if they make a set of 1.1/4 Clamps or alternatively some bar end mounts to suit the oversize bars. as they also have that as an alternative mounting system to the bar clamps.

Will let ya's know their answer.

Hello Birdy et All.
Below is the respons from Barkbusters re the fitment of Storm Barkbusters to Large 1.1/4 inch Handlebars.

Hi Gerry

We do not have any hardware that will fit to an outer diameter of 1 1/4 inch. The only possibility will be the Storm S5.

The Storm S5 is designed to fit hollow handlebar ends and uses an expanding collet arrangement which inserts into the end of the bar.
Details here: Link

This type of fitment would involve removing any standard bar end caps. Therefore anything like Kuryaken Iso grips for example would have to be sacrificed.

The important thing to look out for is the internal diameter of the handlebar. The S5 hardware will only work up to a maximum internal diameter of 22mm. After that the expanding collets won't expand far enough for a satisfactory fitment.

For customers in Europe we have a distribution warehouse that is managed by SW-Motech. Therefore customers throughout Europe who have difficulty finding our products can access Barkbusters by contacting the SW-Motech warehouse.
Contact details: barkbusters@sw-bc.com

I hope this helps!

I keep checking on this thread, waiting for the punch line It has to be a piss take it is, isn't it

Surely no one would put Bark Busters on their Bird......

I mean each to their own, but if your hands are cold, get some decent winter gloves, and if they are still cold, get some decent inner gloves, and if they are still cold, get some heated grips as well, but Bark Busters

If you want to break the wind, chow down into a decent Indian curry
but please leave the Bark Busters for bush bashing adventurous riders.

Like I say, each to their own, but IMHO they look ridiculous

Cheers Smitty

I did a ride out way out west a few weeks back and was subjected to some " Finger Freezing " temperatures of up to -14Deg C. which is reanonably cold for us Tropical North Queenslanders.

I had a couple of temporary solutions when I was out bush but both not very asthetic. N.B Gloves on the seat!

When I got home the first thing I did was contact Eddy looking for solutions. He mentioned National Cycle.and is still endevouring to get me some quality gloves.

National Cycles Link: Link

I have contacted them and they say they dont have anything for the 1600 Thunderbird. but will add it to the "To Do List" one day.

One would think that there must be some "Bark Busters" or something around that goes close to fitting the TBird.Has anyone in the colder climates solved or got a solution to this problem.

Hi GerPa.
Know what your saying, I got the simple answer for you. Oxford handlebar Muffs. Use them myself, had them for years, five mins to put on five off.

hope this helps, they saved my hands from the bitter cold and some really shyteful weather, on my last trip to FNQ

They could be considered a pain in the ass around town, but out on the highway they are gold

dang, a tbird RV

Ron
You need to go back and read the thread from the start. The problem was solved when Leethal stumbled upon/found the Storm Barkbusters, the photos of them in this thread are were when I originally fitted them to my bike. They will only be used when on long rides and in the cooler months and the likely hood of hitting the minus 0deg C temperatures.

I notice them on a bird in on of the Other Threads of "For our Non English Speakign Friends" (Riding East) where one of the guys in the UK rode into Europe and up to the Russian border. His were bar end mounted.

Once that is done, all you will need is some Blue and White paint and chrome work
