Finally got around to fitting the Ikon Progressives this morning. all up about 1.5 hrs and that included a visit to the Hardware Shop for the spacer.
1:Undo the top Triple Tree clamp to ensure there is no tension on the Top Cap. 2:Jack the bike up on the bike lift ensuring the front wheel is clear of the ground. 3:Unscrew the Top Cap, It will not leap out at you and there is only minimum spring tension on it. 4:Remove the Steel Spacer, and get a bit of wire and fish out the Top Spring seating Spacer + The Spring. 5:Lower the Jack until the bike is on the ground and the front forks are fully collapsed, There should be about 28 or 29mm gap of Fork Tube exposed under the lower triple tree. 6:Check the Oil Level by measuring the Oil Level to the top of the fork tube, 2 measurements front and back as the Fork in on a slope, Note the difference between the two measurements and divide by 2 and add that figure to the back measurement which near as hell will give you a very close indication of how close you are to the 106mm requirement from the top of the tube. I don't believe a mm of 2 either way in oil level makes any difference. ( Got that Dave &Leethal ) 7:Add 10w Fork Oil as required to get back to the 106mm specification, I added approx 7cc to either side .(the level will have dropped because of the oil that came out on the springs and spacers) 8:Refit the new Ikon Progressive Spring with the tightly wound area to the top. 9:Jack the bike back up so that the wheel is free of the ground and there is no weight on the springs when refitting. 10:Refit the hard Top Washer then the modified spacer, in My case I used a Plastic Pipe fitting, 40mm in Diameter by 40mm long.( Ikon say cut the existing spacer OR use some plastic PVC Pipe) I kept the original spacer in case I want to reverse thing at some time. 11:Refit the Top Tube cap taking caution NOT to get the fine threads crossed up.10:Re tighten the Top Triple Tree Clamp top 25Nm
The Picture below shows the Original Triumph Stock Spring in their order of assembly and below it is the Ikon Progressives with the 40mm Dia x 40mm Long Plastic Spacer.
12: Go for a ride and you will be "Pleasantly Surprised"
